This regional allotment situation is fairly irksome, and without going into details, in NY it seems if I order a package #4, it is very unlikely it would arrive anytime soon. I was told however that dealers can actually order a base Prius, and Toyota is claiming they will ship those with the same priority as any other package in the region's allotment. I am considering this now, as all I really wanted was the VSC... Just to get the details straight because I'm slightly OCD, I take it the base prius has an older, lower resolution version of the MFD because of the lack of the backup camera, and a stereo without an AUX in input. Are there any other details to be aware of that are difficult to glean from the product literature? Thanks for any help!
I think the product literature pretty much covers it. I assume you have looked at the build and price section of the website. My 2 cents would be wait for the #4 as long as you can get it in the first 1/2 of the year. I have a 2006 #4 and love it. I like having the camera, the safety of the vsc, and the side curtain airbags. Take care, Oregon-mica
I was in a similar situation. I wanted all the safety enhancements as well as the SKS and so was in line for #4. I waited for more than 2 months here in Ohio. Then couple of weekends back, I saw a post here about Miller Toyota (www.millertoyota.com) in DC having in stock #6 for around the MSRP of #4. A quick phonecall to them (ask for Sarah B.) secured my deal. I drove back with my #6 last weekend and am very happy with the way things turned out. If you are interested, the website indicates that they still have some #6 in stock, though they seem to have increased the price by around 500$. Best of luck!
