How much does the so called "fake drag" impact fuel economy?

    The idea of "gliding" is to maximize DISTANCE covered using the minimum ENERGY, be that gasoline, electrical, or inertia ENERGY.

    On 60 deg F days, on my 22 miles stop and go commute (avg 25 mph) I get about 60 mpg when I utilize gliding and 54 mpg when purposely coasting with foot off. I seldom do the latter but I did it to see the difference. It's a safety issue for me having to keep looking at the HSI to glide. I also will use N if I can but that's not always a good option if I am above 42 mph and want to glide. Engine will then stay on as I go below 42 mph. N retains engine on/off state at the initiation of the glide AFAIK.
