My Mom just got a 2014 Prius C and often parks under a tree. There is a bunch of debris such as twigs and tiny leaves inside the mesh area directly under where the windshield is. This seems like a design flaw because you cannot get rid of them, they seem trapped under there. Is there anything that can be done and does it hurt anything such as block any airflow? I told her to try not to park there if possible.
Manual removal required. Vacuum, hand pick, brush lightly. Not nearly as bad as that area in wife's old Lumina.
Okay, thanks. The tree in front of her house drops tons of crap. I will tell her to not park there if she can avoid it.
It's always best not to park under trees for a number of reasons, sap being the most obnoxious. When the sap starts running and drops onto the car it's a real pain to keep it washed off. It smears on the windshield and attracts dust/dirt from the breezes. Then there's the bird poo, twigs, leaves, acorns, helicopters, and squirrel poo to worry about. It may help to keep it cool by parking under a tree, but I don't do it unless there's no other way.
Every year or so it's good to remove the plastic tray and get any/all bits that fell under. Isn't too hard, remove wiper arms, then the plastic screws and push clips. Remove tray and wipe/blow out!
