Well... we took the plunge. My wife and I decided to go drive a Prius v yesterday afternoon and ended up buying one right then and there. Luckily they had a white "three" model in stock which was exactly what we wanted. We had to walk out of the dealership 3 times before they met all of our demands (price, trade value, etc) but in the end I think we got exactly what we wanted. Watching the sales manager sprint across the showroom shouting "okay we'll do the deal" was kind of fun. One of the other families buying a car asked if I would negotiate their deal too. Hopefully if is stops raining here in AZ long enough I can get them both cleaned up and take a picture of the "family." Thank you everyone for answering our questions. This forum reminds me of when I owned a supercharged 4Runner - everyone is great. Dan
Hey Dan..congrats on new v. I have been in market for a v three for couple months but none of the east valley dealers have been going much below msrp. Mind if I ask what you ended up paying and which dealership you went through? I hope to join the growing number of v's on the road in east valley soon
Kurt - I bought from Big Two Toyota in Chandler. (Off the 202 and Gilbert Rd I think). We also bought my wife's 2010 Prius there as well. Like I said I had to walk out 3 times to get the price I wanted. I ended up getting the v at invoice (confirmed with Edmunds), made them throw in the window tint and they gave me about $1200 over blue book for my trade. All in all I felt pretty good about the transaction. I'd be happy to share my salesperson's name if you are interested - PM me. To the others who posted pictures - AWESOME! I'll be sure to take a few snaps once we get them cleaned up and I make room in the garage. We'll have to see in anyone on here can decipher our license plates. Dan
Traded off my 07 TCH last week for my v Three. Wife has 06 Prius. So I would guess we are a PRII family also.
Dan, you never did post the pics of your new Prius family. I started browsing this thread as we're also getting ready to finally purchase our second Prius.
Dan, Interesting to see you're located in Gilbert. My wife and I purchased a 2014 Prius v Three about 3 weeks ago. The dealer we worked with was the same dealer where I bought my 2008 Prius 2nd gen. Back in 2008 he gave me a 'smoking' deal and I ended up walking out with a final contract price nearly $3k below sticker. It was a bit of work but he gave in when he realized he might loose my business to another dealer in Mesa. This dealer worked with me to close a deal on my v. I ended up getting $2k below sticker (real close to invoice price) plus top dollar for a trade. Also took off the plate the stuff they added on before the sale such as carpet mats, window tint, etc. I felt real good closing this one. One final thing for anyone reading this post.. it's said to always negotiate your deal during the last week of the month when dealers are trying to make book for the month. They likely will give a bunch and it worked for me for both the 2008 2nd gen and 2014 v.
Last day of the quarter, last day of the month, at night, in the rain just when the dealer knows he won't get any more customers and this is his last chance....even better last day of the year on last year's model with snow falling.
Right there with you. Got the C and the liftback within a couple of weeks of each other. Got my friends to buy two liftbacks last week after we bought ours.
