One or two Prius reviews online mentioned that the Prius seemed to have a bit of a rougher ride than some other cars in its class. I'm not sure I agree, perhaps because my last few vehicles have rode rougher than my new Prius Plug-in. I find it to be quite a nice ride. Anyone disagree?
Compared to the three other autos I own, I would rate its ride as satisfactory. Perhaps those other reviewers are basing it against a Mercedes S class, or Bentley Mulsanne?
It depends on what they're comparing it to.. what other cars are "in it's class"? Compared to my 2003 CRV, it's a somewhat similar (but slightly quieter) ride. Compared to my 2014 Volt- yes the Prius is a "rougher ride".
It can have a fairly smooth ride, if you don't up the tire pressure to gain additional MPGs. I need to spend a day with some padding and attack the squeaks & rattles.
If the reviewers were driving a five, which has 17in wheels and low profile tires, I would see why they would say its a rough ride.
Well, I have a co-worker he has a 2012 plug-in with TRD lower springs, Plus package 17" wheels and tires and a TRD rear swaybar, the car ride much smoother than my 2011 non plug-in. He has the tires inflated to factory spec 33/32. it's much better damping in bumps and rough road.
