Hi guys. So after 2.5 months of agonizing wait, my rims from Japan finally arrived. After I put in the order a few months ago, I discovered that Ray's wheels has the 57xtreme 17x7 w/42mm offset, which might be a better choice than these 17x7 w/50mm offset wheels - my main concern was that the high offset has the wheels sitting too inward. I didn't want to mess around with putting spacers on to push out the wheel since I want to keep everything thing uncomplicated. So sell or keep? Well after opening one of the boxes, I find that they are more beautiful than the pictures of them on the internet. The face of the wheel is not as concave as I like and I really would have liked a 18x9 size...Didn't want to sacrifice comfort, FE and price so 17x7 is fine with me. I guess we all can't really have our slice of cake and eat it too eh? Otherwise we'd all have wives that look like Jennifer Aniston On with the pictures: I've owned a few cars in the past that were modded. Never before did I actually purchase rims for a car..except in college when I bought used 15' Motoform 5-star wheels for my civic. They were a morbid 30lbs per wheel not including tires!...My Prius Plus already has 17 forged wheels so I'll use these new SSR rims for winter. Here they are in the garage, with Michelin X-ice 3 tires. And on with the unboxing. Nicely packed! There is a box within a box...lol Glad to see - Japanese wording and the "made in japan" stickers reassure me that there is at least some level of quality in this wheel. Japanese take pride in their products! I love how they sign off with individual signatures on quality assurance. I have nothing against China but I frown upon anything aftermarket for the Prius that is made in China Protective sleeve on the wheel: Some other certifications on the wheel. The white marks are not scratches but some kind of residue from manufacturing that can be wiped off. The center cap inside the box...and some SSR stickers.. better keep the stickers because we all know they add at least 5-10hp to the car once applied. And finally the wheel. Flat Black. Great for the winterized look Not the lightest wheel but 1lb lighter than the Prius Plus rims. Would have liked Ray's super eco's in 17's which I believe are only 15lbs or less. Too bad they are discontinued. No time to install tires yet but here is how they look next to my Plus Rims. I have ordered Tanabe coilovers so I'll put a picture of these rims installed on the car, lowered sometime in the summer. Happy driving to all and be safe!
"So after 2.5 months of agonizing wait" sounds like what just happened scrolling down to see the rims.........like watching movie previews before the movie!
Lol...come on guys, I like to drive in style for all 12 months! Instead of buying generic black 15 - 16 inch steelies, I decided on these SSR's instead for the stealth look. I am using the Prius Plus wheels for the rest of the seasons if you guys are wondering.
Very valid statements! Maybe I should consider using this product on them for protection in the winter: Gtechniq C5 wheel armor
