I wish you guys would be equal responsively to my thread about the Remote start pt398-47110 as you are here... That's a real issue, since one poor soul already has done some real damage to his electrics.... Come on! Do this small investigation for us.. We only need to know where the green wire and the purple wire is connected. 3 pin L79 connector. Located in the left kick panel area on your cars....
If you look thru these doc's: Index of /Prius/Service-Manual/Gen-III-ZVW30 I'd guess you will find that wire and can figure it out That's the service manual for your car Mike
I bet 100% of us have a crankshaft. And 0.1% of us ever tried to add aftermarket remote start. This will cut down the number of 'experts'.
Well, I know that it has nothing to do with the thread here, but I am just getting a bit desperate to find out how to get it working... I'm starting to think that the wiring for American and European Prius is totally different... And it is frustrating to know that your cars(American Prius) has the connector very visible and easy for you guys to find and sort out where the wires goes to. At least if they go into the front left door, or not.... Can't find it in any wiring diagram. Probably because it is not normally connected to anything.... I'm sorry to bother you with this, but it is nowhere else to ask for answers....
It is a sensor for the instrument panel(s) brightness. I am sure someone could tap into it and control the lights.
I believe it's been done, but it involves deconstructing the dashboard and tapping into some very thin ecu wiring. Also, for a complete job, an oem combination switch with the Auto light position. SCH-I535
I believe Toyota also uses that dash-mounted sensor to signal the computer *when* it is time to switch between the Day-time Running Lights (DRL) and 'full' night-time headlamps.
Not in a 2010. I personally believe it's inertia. There are some places that require automatic headlamps, and many of these places have left hand drive cars. Rather than blank the hole, they just assembled it and didn't provide AHL for US Spec Priuses. Interesting that we require TMPS and (soon) rear cameras but not automatic headlamps. It seems like every third or forth moron that I see riding without headlamps after sunset is driving a Prius.
I tried those links and was blocked by a "heightened security" warning. Sigh. It would have been great info.
There ain't no security nothing on there, just legit files. Call your ISP and have them turn off the nanny alert or try it on a Linux box and go get 'em Nothing to fear There is just about everything you could need in those books for your car to do whatever including schematics. Many members here have downloaded them from my site over the past couple years. Mike
