My 2012 lease was up on our model two. It was our first Prius and it was always a great car, so much so that my wife bought a 2013 Prius persona. I decided to go with something a little larger, with more cargo room and awd. We got a 2014 Honda CRV ex-L awd model. I really like it a lot, but there are definitely times I miss the Prius. It feels weird not driving it. I have been in a Prius since 2012- so I got use to the comfortable, quiet ride. The only thing I didn't love about it was in the sun or late afternoon day, it was hard to see the screen. Its like that on my wife's car too. I think it's the cars only fault. The CRV has a much darker screen and sits in different position so that problem does not exist. I do miss the Prius though... Maybe I will have to trade with my wife sometimes. That way we get a change every once in a while. I will still be on the site. Thanks!
We are also down to one Prius. I purchased a 2010 II and IV for my wife and myself. We are totally satisfied with the Prius but I have retired and no longer have the need for mine. My retirement projects require more room so I now drive a Tacoma pick up. I will also drive much less and gas mileage is no longer a primary requirement. The Tacoma is a 4cyl reg cab so it's not a very thirsty truck. I also miss driving my Prius but I will occasionally drive my wife's to ease the withdrawal symptoms.
Best of luck w/the CRV! If it's anything like our 2003 CRV (now with 175K on the ODO) you'll be in for many many miles of care free motoring. FWIW- I don't know what oil is recommended in the new CRV's- but with a new vehicle, I'd go 100% synthetic (probably Mobil 1) for life!
I got the book on the CRV and so far it looks very nice. Have to rent one and put a few thousand miles on one before I can say much. Sure looks nice though. Mike wanderin around on my phone
the crv is really nice. Spacious. drives quite nicely. Just filled up last week, I got 25.6 mpg. It was at about a quarter of a tank left and it cost 36 to fill. about $7 more than my prius. Usually my prius lasted longer too. Smaller tank.
Yup. Early on, my take was that the dash was designed by nerds, with little or no testing in various driving conditions. I can recall driving in bright sunlight with wet roads; I had no clue how fast I was going: the screen was unreadable. The nerds also ruled the roost determining positioning: the most important gauges nicely centered on the dash, as opposed to being in front of the driver. As you say, other than that, great car.
