Where is the USB port?

I would prefer it was not in the box. I understand out of the way, but the cords are never tucked inside. I'm at least always charging my iphone with the USP cord and 1/2 the time my carpool is feeding books on tape through the aux cord. My iphone stays in the tray next to where the receptacles are in the picture above. Having them in the same area would make life a little easier.

Getting them plugged in when the center console is full is just a minor pain. But enough so that I don't unplug them any more than necessary.

Having the groove where the cords come out of the center console right in the middle of the cup holder is more than a little goofy. My fusion feeds the cords out of the side to box.

 

At least there is now a groove for the cords. In the older Prius you just had to slam the lid on the cord.

 

Mine doesn't have an audio jack next to it, only a 12V power socket. I also believe it's a power-only USB. I see no evidence of a data connection to the system from the phone. Not really a problem, as there is a Bluetooth link.

 

I have a thumb drive in mine with over 1000 songs on it.

 

yep! same here 1500 songs on thumb drive, works great.

 

For whatever it's worth, I bought one of these retractable USB cords on eBay that has been super easy to use, and takes up no space.

 

Turns out, it is a data USB port, but my Android phone causes the music player to try to play a song called " add google hangout." Obviously a software problem.

 

I have a 2012 PiP and the aux. plug hole is right underneath the USB port. The little cover shows the symbols for both.

 

+1. I never use the Aux so had forgotten it is there. In looking for it just now, I discovered that the USB port is much easier to access if I'm outside the car and leaning over the driver's seat to look into the center console, rather than from inside the car.

 

Yeah! it's location is kind of nuts, but it works.

 

When I put the driver's seat back, I can reach my hand in there.

 

So can I, but it's awkward to try to plug it in, with my harm hampered by the lid. That's why I rarely unplug it.l

 

All mine does when I plug my phone into it, the player tries to play a song called "add google hangout" and it beeps and keeps playing a recorded voice note over and over. No way to stop it so far, unless I disconnect the phone.
