How do I download my iphone phonebook to my 2009 Prius via BT? I have had my 1st Prius for 3 weeks now. And this is my 1st time doing a chat. When I go through my Prius menus, I get to the selection to download the contacts (up to 1000) and then the car menu tells me to tell the phone to send the info. At which time, the iphone BT disconnects from the car. I do not know if the car or the iphone is initiating the disconnect? But when I select "Cancel" on the Car menu, then the iphone reconnects to the car BT. It appears that I could manually add my 150 contacts, but I would rather not.
You might be SOL on the Gen 2 Prius (worked great w/my iPhone 3G at the time w/a Lexus HS 250h, which had a newer gen of nav system). See my post at http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-...one-3-gs-phonebook-xfer-woes.html#post1293287. If you find out otherwise, I'd love to know.
An alternative to manually adding your contacts, if the 2009 has a USB port it may allow you to upload a contacts file in .vcf format to the unit. Look at the manual for the Stored Contacts info and see if has this option. The 2012's do but I don't know if it something new or a legacy that 2009's also had.
There were never any USB ports on any 2nd gen (04-09). The USB port didn't come until Gen 3, and on 2010-2011s, you couldn't even get it unless you got model Three w/nav. (I didn't even notice that until I helped a friend of mine shop for an '11 Prius in December 2011. She got a nav-less model Three.)
This is a work-a-round- if you have no other options. You can upload your contacts from your iPhone to Google voice. Then borrow an old android phone from someone and use WiFi to sign into your Google Voice. It should download the contacts. Then you can pair the Android and upload the phone book to the Prius. Then pair back to your IPhone. It is messy but it should work.
alternatively, use voice dialing from the iphone itself ? i use siri for all my voice dialing. works brilliantly. i have a proclip that mounts the phone within easy reach of the driver seat, and in plain sight. i will try to remember to get a picture of it tomorrow. Jason.
