Does the Prius signal a second or third time after it shows one bar of gas? I know it signals the first time, but I'm always worried that I'm going to run out of gas. I know I get around 50 mpg's, so I just want to make sure it gives me one more chance in case I forget.
unfortunately, no. try not to learn this the hard way, like i did. it's easy to forget after the single beep. who notices the flashing pip after a few miles?
Nope. Toyota thought a fuel gauge, a tone, and a blinking fuel bar is enough notification of low fuel. It's about 2 gallons remaining when you hear the tone if you want to play chicken. Loser buys gas. iPhone ?
It will beep every time you start the car until you fill up except you keep driving continuously for another 50 miles (depends on how good you are at MPG game) after the first warning.
There likely will be one more beep. It's the one that signals the engine stopping and the battery is run down.
I just tested tonight and it beeps eight (8) seconds after every time (five timess) I pushed the Start button from off, about 10 seconds the ICE starts. I noticed the blinking bar (didn't hear the beep) today and drove about 5 miles on the way home. I was lazy to stop by Costco gas and also remember about this thread so I didn't fill up and just tested above to know it will beep until I fill up.
The final warning signal will be the choking sound from engine before it shuts down, hope it will be on a downward side of a hill
Just fill the car when you get to 2 pips! You will never run out of gas, and never hear or miss the "Beeps"! Running out of gas is bad in a Prius, why take the chance!
That depends on where you are are. On my road trips, refill planning needs to start earlier than 2 pips: Also, cell phones don't work over large sections of this road.
Is that state route 140 between Lakeview OR and (just north of) Winnemucca NV? When I drove it, you not only never passed gas stations, you never passed any buildings of any kind, although at one point you can see Denio NV in the distance. [edit] It is US 6 from Tonapah NV to Ely NV
