I don't know about the rest of the country but I've gotten about a 2-4 mpg increase since my recall, but I attribute that to the weather more than the actual recall itself since it's finally gotten back to warm in Texas. I haven't noticed a difference in regenerative braking (friction brakes still come on at 6-7 mph, verified through sound and pedal presure difference) unless I brake hard. No noticeable difference in acceleration either on my end...maybe I don't pay enough attention to my car...

My post was an attempt at humour, not trying to accuse people of imagining things.

I do know that Pearl S (GIII) uses the electric portion a lot more than Pearl (GII) does. So if they are reprogramming to reduce stress on the inverter they are probably reducing electric use somewhat at some throttle positions. It will be interesting to see if I notice any change, as I almost never use full throttle. In fact I run in "eco" mode all the time so I have finer control of the power at lower throttle positions.

The recall applies to all GIII models, though it could only be the hatchback. 2010 right to cars made a few months ago. It's applied at the factory now, of course.

I do notice that the engine is used a lot more during acceleration. I also noticed the sticker this morning that the service department placed in my door jam that warns that the weight limit has been reduced due to the modifications made. It seems like every time I accelerate, I notice an immediate drop in my average mpg according to the display but after cruising for a while it goes up faster as well. It seems like it takes a while after you hit your cruising speed for the engine to throttle back, though. The electric engine seems less willing to take over right after you finish accelerating. Unlike others, though, it seems like my battery never wants to stay charged. It rarely goes over 6/8 and a lot of times after I start my car back up and begin moving, it drops battery level down to 2 or 3 bars pretty quickly. Even will this odd behavior that seems like it should kill my mpg, I still end up at 52-53 mpg average at the end of the day.

You mean the label looks like this ? (I cropped out the VIN number). I thought it was there since day one! It has my vehicle VIN number printed on it.

I believe that sticker is installed when they add port-installed accessories. I vaguely recall that maybe some vehicles in one particular region had those added after sale because they had been forgotten, perhaps? But I might be making that up, too. In any case, it's not related to the recall.

What port-installed accessories would weigh enough reduce the load carrying capacity? I don't have a sticker on my Prius 5 despite the heavier 17-inch wheels, although I suppose heavier wheels do not impact suspension to the same extent as solar roof.

The heavier wheels are not supposed to be available with the sunroof for weight reasons, so they do affect carrying capacity.

I don't know what port installed options I would have that would lower my weight carrying capacity by 15 lbs. I have stock 15" wheels, don't have the solar roof, and only have the nav/Jbl system and softex as options.

It's probably a slight error in the specs and so Toyota is covering their butts with that sticker or complying with some law or something.
