I don't like the grey dash trim in my 2012 C, so I painted the larger piece black and the smaller trim piece orange to match my Habanero car color. (I figured I can always buy new trim if I screw up!) Thanks to the Japanese guys experimenting with these interior mods, and to member waka for posting it up, that's where I found the Tamiya color to match my car. The orange piece got Tamiya white primer, Orange, and Clear Finish coat. The quality came out pretty good (I'm no professional painter).
You also need to add a start stop switch to the blank area, it may not function but it makes it look so much better.
^ You're right, that would be cool. What else could go there? Map light? I think the grey console trim piece is next. And I need to do something with the shifter plate.
^^ haha, great idea! I like the blue trim too. I didn't change anything that was blue, only the light grey trim.
I've seen buttons that go there that say "Engage" "Don't push me" "Turbo" and other random exclamations. I think Eject is the best.
It's a spray lacquer found in well stocked hobby shops. Meant for plastic or metal. IDK how it'll stand up to temperature extremes or UV in a car... Meant to be on plastic or metal models kept indoors and under relatively climate controlled conditions. Time will tell.
^ It sure will! So far it all looks great. I figure I can always buy black 2013 pieces if these look bad after a while.
