I am looking to rebuild 3 prius gen 2 batteries. I have searched Google, and prius chat for some simple specs, which are probably self-explanatory to someone who deals with these regularly. As an aside, is there a reason no one has made a wiki with this information. I realize I could measure these myself, but I wanted this info to be indexed somewhere just in case someone else needed it. What is the spec for the terminal nuts on the HV battery. Looks like a 10mm with a 4.5mm or 5mm bolt, but I need to know so I can stock up. I don't feel like removing corrosion if I don't have to. One of the batteries is missing the bolts and nuts for the battery cover itself. What is the spec size for these? Any help would be most appreciated.
Hi my name is Roy from canada : I removed and reconditioned threeGen 1 batteries for my three 2001 prius cars. My batteries have 38 modules yours have less and may have different bolt sizes then mine. If you are going to try to recondition the batteries I could tell you what worked for me and the equipment I used to bring the batteries back to life if that will help you. There is a professional rebuilder on this site named Eric that has given me help on charging currents. I also use techstream to compare the battery voltages under load while driving to record how well they are performing, we along with others could create a file that would help others who are trying to repair their cars themselves. As I only own the 2001 model my information would be limited.
The external case uses a 10mm, the terminal nuts are 8mm, the bus bars need 56 8mm nuts and there are four 12mm bolts that hold the front compression plate in place. Hope this helps! Jessica
