Bought my first Prius on 2/22/14 (used) When I test drove it the car pulled to the right and had a clunking noise.(the salesman was with me) So I told him about that.He said it would get fixed. So they fixed the pulling problem but not the clunking noise.I felt like there was something else going on with the car so I took it back and told them about the clunking noise again and I wanted them to put the scan tool on it to see if it was throwing any codes. So the service wrighter told me the check engine light would be on if it was throwing codes but I know better than that.So sure enough the service wrighter plugged the scan tool in and it had 5 codes.A ABS, Transmission, A/C and 2 more. The dealership had it for 2 days. The put a new 12volt battery in and said that's what was throwing the codes.Im 99.9% sure the clunking noise is stabilizer bushings. But they wanna charge me $110.00 to diagnose it.Does that sound right to you guys? Thanx in advance.
Does your sales contract list the clunking noise defect and state that the dealership will repair that fault? If yes, then there should be no charge to you. If no, then I suppose you can find your salesman and give him a hard time about the fact that the service department wants to charge you for diagnostic time. Maybe he can intercede with the service dept on your behalf.
You should had put that in writing. The salesman that worked with me promised me leather seats upgrade. I had them writing it in my contract before I left the dealer, and sure enough they called me two days later for the upgrade.
go in and talk to the salesman face to face. it's hard, even for a car salesman, to deny what they promised you. all the best!
