I need your input guys. Just wondering if the foglights are interchangeable between the Prius v and the regular Prius?
I don't have access to a v, but I believe they are. Many late model Toyota and Scion cars use the same foglights. The only difference is in the shrouds or grills they are mounted on in each specific vehicle. SCH-I535 For example, the foglights are the same in the two Toyota cars listed in my sig below. SCH-I535
Many Gen III Prii have grills that are set up for fog lights. They have plugs that are removable that block them off, if the fog lights are not installed. The "v" model, however, supplies two separate grills; one for cars equipped with fog lights and another; for those that are not. My personal "v" does not have fog lights and would require changing grills to fit them. I can't guarantee it, but all "v's" are installed with the same wiring harness. Installing fog lights can essentially be done with off the shelf "plug in" components. Even the instrument panel in cars not equipped with fog lights have spaces for the fog light switches. Blank snap out plugs cover the unused holes. You can check to see, if the same spaces are available for other Gen III Prii.
The reason I am asking is, my regular Prius had a( not sure if it is an aftermarket) because I bought the fog light kit from Toyota of Daytona(SET dealer for $149) and they are known to use aftermarket parts. My Prius v is a five model that came with fog lights but the beam pattern is not as good as the ones I bought for my regular Prius. Prius v fog light does not light up the road. My regular Prius fog lights help me see the road better because of the beam distribution but have more glare compared to the OEM fog lights in my Prius v.I have found a pair for $39 and I am wanting and willing to try it. Thanks for your input guys.
Have you tried adjusting the "aim" on the foglights? There is an adjustment wheel at the lower back of the foglight housing that will move the reflector behind the bulb. Sounds like they are adjusted low. However, you do acknowledge the fact that the foglights on the regular Prius has a lot of glare. This is because the foglights don't really have a cutoff, like the projectors in your lowbeam headlights. SCH-I535
I already did the adjustments here in this link - Re-aimed Foglight - more benefits | PriusChat The regular Prius has some glare due to not having a straight cut off line like the Prius v as seen in the link above. I'll try raising the Prius v's cut off up an inch higher and see how this works.
