latest # of HOV stickers issued?

I guess I made a tactical error in the sticker process....I sent a money order from the U.S. Postal Service rather than a personal check. I forgot to bring my checkbook to the office the day I sent the HOV sticker application, and rather than wait another day I decided to use the money order. So I don't have a check to clear my bank account as a guide to where my application is in the process. Here is my timeline, should I be worried?

2/3/06 purchased '06 Prius package 6
2/6/06 Recieved hybrid transponder from S.F. Fastrak office
2/7/06 Mailed HOV sticker application with money order
3/2/06 Getting nervous that the money order is somehow "tricky" to process

 

I sent mine in on 2/6 and hope to get my stickers in the next few days, so hang in there.

Just curious how you got your Fastrak transponder so quickly (even assuming you went in person to the office). When I called them, I was told I needed my DMV registration in order to apply, which probably takes a few weeks. Did you just show the dealer paperwork to the Fastrak people? Thanks.

 

The copy of your sales agreement will have the VIN printed on it. That was sufficient for the Fastrak office in SF (on Embardadero) when I brought mine in, 60 minutes after buying my Prius in Dublin. Would have been 30 minutes with Fastrak and the HOV stickers.

Absolutely correct. You only need the sales agreement with the VIN printed on it. The Fastrak people were fairly efficient and pleasant. I only hope the DMV folks are as efficient. I hoped to receive my HOV stickers in yesterday's mail, but no luck.

Wow! 50,607!? How many hundreds/day are they processing?! I'm actually somewhat surprised that they're getting around to them as quickly as they are. They've probably got two guys on it full-time, is my guess.

My check cleared on 2/17 but still no sticker
I called the DMV and they can see an "action" was taken on my car on 2/22 (hopefully the mailing of my sticker) but they can't tell what it was. Any advice on confirming that a sticker was issued?

I feel your pain, only worse! Here are my key dates.

1/23/06 - Bought car
1/24/06 - Mailed app
2/10/06 - Check cashed
3/2/06 - still no stickers!

what is really going on? I called the DMV field office, but they were no help. She said to call back in a week. If I don't have them by now, I certainly won't have them in another week, whats the point? Something is wrong. I guess I will have to dread another week without my stickers, and call in then and see what they can do at this point.

 

1/28 Bought car
2/11 Sent off application minus $8 cheque
2/12 Swore when I realised I forgot the cheque
2/14 (approx.) Sent off another application including cheque this time
2/28 Check cashed
3/4 Stickers received!! Woohoo! We also got a letter today from them saying we forgot to include payment for our application (the first one), but they've reserved stickers for us, so just send them a cheque with our VIN as a reference number... Does that mean there's another set of stickers with our name on them??

The way I see it is if I get my plates and still no sticker (probably in a week), I'm sending off another application. If I can confirm a sticker was issued, then I'll just pay another $8 for a "replacement".

 

Interesting, I sent mine in on 2/6 and my check was cashed 2/23 but I got #50,607. They must give a stack to each person doing this or someone is reaching from the bottom of the stack

Just got my stickers yesterday!

here is my timeline:
- 1/21/06 - picked up car
- 2/16/06 - went to FasTrak office to pick up transponder
- 2/16/06 - mailed out application to DMV
- 3/ 2/06 - check cleared at the bank
- 3/ 6/06 - sticker issued by DMV
- 3/10/06 - license plate and registration arrived
- 3/13/06 - stickers arrived! Sticker Number HE051578

It saved me over 15 minutes of commute time this morning!

 

Many phone calls to the DMV later....

I finally get my decal!!! Wahooooo!!!! I can finally join those who can report their timeline.

2/1/06 - Sent my application
2/15/06 - Check cleared
3/9/06 Receive license plate...doh where's my sticker!!??!
3/10/06 - 3/17/06 Lots of phone calls to DMV
3/20/06 Decal arrives!!!

Could you tell me what number you callled? My check was cleared on 2/27/06 and so far no stickers. I wanted to call DMV too...

 

Sticker number is 52200.

Unfortunately the DMV folks I spoke to didn't want to do any research on this unless it's been 30 days since my check cleared. In the meantime, I'd get a copy of your cancelled check from your bank because the DMV may ask for it when you call. They can trace your check to whoever processed it by a stamp on the back of your check that looks like "xxxx FEB 27 2006 xxxx" in the endorsement section.

 

Thanks. I just called DMV. They told me it'll take 6-8 weeks for the stickers to arrive, and that I can call back if I don't get it after 8 weeks...
