My longer commute today showed MPG at least as good as I observed on previous similar commutes, perhaps a bit better. I'm seeing the battery level behave the way it did before the recall service (not staying near full), and I'm also noting that, when in ECO mode, the instantaneous MPG level goes down linearly as the HSI status bar passes the mid-point. Yesterday, I was seeing a very sharp plunge in the instantaneous MPG as the HSI bar passed the mid-point when the vehicle should have been warmed up.

The statement by PriusinParidise about the vehicle having to re-learn the characteristics of the traction battery makes some sense, and for those that see a MPG drop after the recall service, I'd recommend that they try a 1 hr+ drive on a freeway then re-evaluate their MPG performance.

Ours is scheduled for tomorrow. We get a free loaner.

We don't care about MPG, it's plenty good.

I just discovered I had never registered with this group. I've corrected that oversight and have a question.

How common is it to need the inverter replacing after having this update? My wife's 2010 Prius V has been at the dealer for I think a week and a half. They said flashing the software update killed the inverter. They also said this was supposed to be rare, but that they had 3 other Priuses in the same state. This seems like a lot to me. The inverter seems to be hard for them to acquire, so we have a loaner for however long this takes.

Anybody go through this and have a guess as to how long it will take to get the inverter?

That does seem rather excessive. Once fixed, I'd look elsewhere for another dealership.

I noticed the same thing on mine. It's a LOT smoother now when going from a full stop to cruising speed and I don't feel the combustion engine turning on anymore like I used to.

Ok, I guess I spoke too soon. It's now been 1 week since the update. The battery SOC "always full" only lasted a few days and now it's actually worse. Now the battery seems to go down to 2 bars left more often than not, especially on ECO mode. My MPG is also in the crapper now. I've gone from 40mpg to now only 37mpg average. Not sure if the update has anything to do with it, but they also corrected my tire pressure down to 35/35 (from 65/45) so that may have something to do with the mpg hit.

I just had mine done at Maita Toyota in Sacramento. With an appointment, it took about 1hr 20 min from the time of service write-up to the time of departure. My advisor was outstanding and it is clear that this dealer is a very well-ran organization.

Yes! Tire pressure that low can make a huge difference 3-5 mpg. Make sure you check side wall on tires for max psi and do not go over that number. Also run 2 pounds less psi in rear tires helps with stability.

I had my update done this week. About 2 hours, no noticeable difference with the car. Yes, my online toyota record shows that I had the update done.

Has anyone actually gotten the hard copy letter from Toyota?
I told myself I'd just wait until it came. Still waiting.

No letter yet. I just went to Toyota dealer and have them update the software, no need recall note or letter.

65PSi in the front tires? It's WAY over the tire's cold pressure limit! I have 17"wheels and tires and all tires at 33 psi, after the software upgrade and about 2 weeks of ECU re-learn, now my "constant MPG" read 49-51 on my 2nd fill-up. This is a good number and car run so much more responsive than before even at ECO mode, I usually drive at NORMAL mode. I'd say the software upgrade is a plus.

I know you don't need the letter, just want to know if anyone has gotten one yet. I did not want to be in the first wave, so I thought I'd just wait until I actually got the letter.

I'm guessing nobody has gotten the letter?

No letter and no update yet. I figure with cold temps, it's not likely to be a problem.

A few days ago, my '12 Ridgeline coasted to a stop with CEL and another indicator lit. The truck restarted and a dealer corrected the problem. The next morning I asked my wife whether I should drive the truck that coasted to a stop or the car that has the recall for the same type of issue. She wanted me to drive her Fit, but I took the Prius.
