Does anyone have experience with a stubby antenna? I'm not talking about a shark fin antenna, but rather just a shorter antenna plugged into the stock base similar to this: Any recommendations for a good one to get? What would be ideal is one that looks almost like a shark fin antenna but just uses the stock base without having to adhere anything to the roof.
That's about the size I have on mine, don't like the shark fin look that's just about on every make of car out there. Slight if any to diminish in reception. But then again I'm not a big radio listener. I listen to the same three local stations that come in clear enough for me and that's about it.
The Gen III stock antenna is about that length as is. I'm looking for probably something about 3". Considering this one:
I've got a stubbie purchased off eBay for $13 shipped if I remember correctly. Works fine. I can't tell any difference from the stock antenna. There are lots of choices available on eBay.
Installed today, I like it and can't tell any difference in radio reception so far. It doesn't screw in quite as well as the stock antenna in that it doesn't seem to lock in place, but seems okay:
