I came across this link on Gizmodo about someone who hooked up his Mac to a Prius and got Front Row running. The most interesting part is that he wrote a Perl script to read and interpret the touch screen data to control Front Row. http://www.kusnetz.net/prius/
I like it . I ditched the idea of using the MFD as a carputer screen a long time ago. I'm glad someone has it figured out. However, even now, I would just prefer the computer video output to a seperate touchscreen since the MFD is displaying my CAN-View data already.
the guy who did that is a member of this site. You could ask him to see if he would be willing to do it for you
I'm him, and I'm on the wrong side of the country. Once I'm done with everything I'm hoping my site will make it clear how anyone can do this. I'm leaving to go on vacation for a week and 1/2 so progress will stop until then. I pretty much have audio working thanks to Norm. I have the CAN-view driving a relay to switch the audio inputs into the JBL amp. Of course this will only work with a prius with the JBL option.
Now that the mac mini has front row installed, with a remote to boot, the key is to figure out how to mount this thing so you can use the remote. Are you going to look into doing that?
