Northern VA Service Department Feedback?

It's not an the way between Leesburg and Pentagon City... But if you are willing to take Whites Ferry... I would recommend Darcars 355 Toyota to you. I think it's a 35 minute drive from Leesburg if you use the ferry.

I've had great experiences going to Darcars 355 Toyota. All the service managers are honest and explain things to you. They do not try and strong arm you to get recommended service done either.

 

Did you buy at Miller Toyota in Manassas? We did. That's where we go even though it is out of the way for us. They seem OK I have no complaints. But there is a hybrid shop in Ashburn that does Re-Involt installs. I am thinking going there for some serious 120k normal maintenance. I am thinking the big Toyota dealership in Alexandria is very good place to buy, not sure about service. The only reason we did not buy there, they were sold out of Prii in 2006.

 

I bought my original Gen I in Toyota on Lee Hwy in FFax City. Service (back then) = meh. Then we moved to Arlington.

Tried the Toyota in Springfield, it was "OK".

Bought the last two Prii from Koons Arlington Toyota on Lee Hwy / Quincy Street in Arlington. Great service techs, and a pretty decent general manager. Based on the last seven years' history with them, I do recommend this dealership. Plus, it's fairly close to Pentagon City, good access to & from I-66 via Lee Hwy, there are a plethora of Metro & Arlington County bus connections if you have a Metro SmarTrip card, and the dealership runs shuttles to & from the Ballston Metro station.

 

We bought a Prius last year and just last week from Koons Arlington Toyota.

Alexandria Toyota on Route 1 is closer for my wife though and she's taken her car there for the 5K, 10K and a tire replacement (big hole) and has been pleased with how quick they've been.

I took my car back to Arlington to have them do my reverse beep and take off a Koons sticker I overlooked in my excitement and they did that in 20 minutes (and for free.) That's too limited of course to know if they are any good.

I'd also like to hear what people think.

I'll likely do my 5K service at Fairfax Toyota as I work about 1.5 miles from there so it's the most convenient for me.

 

Big bump from the dead here, but I thought I would post my latest experience.

Scheduled an appointment online for my 5000 mile service with Arlington Toyota where I bought the car. It was for December 26, at 11:30AM. I got there are 11:15 and they told me it would be an hour. I was a little surprised by that, seems like a routine service and I figure they should have enough bays and techs that they would be able to do it a bit faster.

59 minutes go by and they have my car ready. Everything was fine, I sign my paperwork, and I'm off. Then I realize that they've reset BOTH my A&B trip meters. Why would they do that?

The actual service was fine, I appreciated them telling me how long it would be and then them actually completing the work in that timeframe, and they have ok chairs in the waiting room.

The problem is I think that's too long for a routine service and I still can't figure out why they would reset my trip meters. I keep track of my mileage for Fuelly and had to do some math and some guessing to enter my latest fill-up.

Anyone else have any recent service experience they want to share? I think I'll give Fairfax a try for my 10K service.

 

If the 12-Volt battery had to be disconnected (not that i can think of a reason to) then that would cause a reset.

 

We settled on Miller Toyota in Manassas after they inspected and then replaced the entire frame on our 2003 Tundra for free after finding a small rust hole. I would not have found it and the repair cost Toyota easily over $10,000, so we respect the honesty and competence of the repair section.
The new-car sales section sold us the last new 2012 on the lot for precisely the discounted price advertised. We had a thorough 30-minute test drive but no pressure, although we did have to say "No" to all the over-priced add-ons that were offered during the sale process.
In terms of service for our Prius, Miller did well on the 15,000 mile inspection, but we also had good luck on the 5,000 mile service in Kansas and the 10,000 mile service in Wisconsin.

Hi Robert we have had good luck with Miller also, where we bought our 2006 Prii after escaping another dealer giving us high pressure. We have done all of our recalls and minor work there. I've been thinking a non-dealer shop might be cheaper but but we have no quality complaints. Its a minor hike for us but we usually stop in some stores, and they have DIY car washes in that county (none in Ffx/Alex/Arl).

 

We do the same thing! Big used book store nearby on 234 (McKay's Used Books) plus an Aldi grocery store for inexpensive groceries, etc.etc.

Maybe should add we have not experienced the "padding" push to have unnecessary work done at Miller which we did experience at a different area dealer when servicing the Tundra.

We do that also as McKay's Used Bookstore and Aldi are just down the road from the dealer!

Avoid Leesburg, I bought mine there. Took it in for the 10k took them 2 hours to change the oil and when I got it back they had left full greasy hand prints in my BP and oil running down my pass headlight. Took it back for the knock sound with video of it and they had my car for 4 days and said " I must of misheard the noise", my wife took it to ourisman chantilly for my 15k, she told them not to touch the air filter (kn) or the cabin as it was a new fram charcoal. Got it back they said the cabin filter was black and dirty, so the blew it out. So we bought my wife a new camry XLE from koons tysons, she took it in for her first service and they were awesome, took. Ine in for the 20k. Told them the same thing as ourisman the service writer wrote in bold marker and circled it. As well as called in the tech and told him. In and out in 45min. So for me they are the go to for now.

 

Would never use Koon's. My fiancé had his Yaris serviced there and they crammed the wrong air filter in, and never rotated the tires. For me Leesburg Toyota has done me well with all my 20k services so far.

 

I have been using the service department at Miller Toyota since I got my 2007 Prius and have always been satisfied with the service, 135,000 miles worth on that car. They will offer additional things like tire rotation that I don't do every oil change, but not high pressure. I just decline and move on. I don't think they have ever told me something was bad when it wasn't. Great for warranty work too.
Easy things like air and cabin filter I just buy and do myself if needed before going in.
When my Prius back door switch got tarry and went bad after warranty expired, a common problem in 2006-07 certain production months, they covered the cost because I was a loyal customer.
Another benefit at Miller Toyota is the after dinner walk-in oil change service, 6:00-9:30. Very convenient for us commuters and usually done in a reasonable time, and free wi-fi. Will do other minor maintenance too then.
Also 15% off parts and labor for Costco members. Print off coupon from Costco website before going in.
Just got a 2013 Prius Four and will continue to use Miller Toyota in Manassas.

 

I just had the 1st safety recall on my 2013, a reprogramming of the Power Control Module, and I was in and out in 45 minutes, no hassle. Only about 3,000 miles, so no service needed yet.
Even if you're using the Toyota care you can use the Costco discount on accessories. I just got a cargo liner for my Prius, or parts if you want to change the cabin filter more frequently. I don't think Toyota Care covers that.

 

Good heads up about the Costco discounts. May have to checkout Miller's Toyota for our next services. About the same distance from Reston for us.

Since you are coming from Pentagon City, and in theory, taking toll road or route 7 to leesburg.

Koons tysons toyota is right near the Rt 7 and Toll road interchange. easy in easy out. Don't have to deal with the Tysons mall area

I went to Koons Tyson to buy my prius, but they were not inclined to deal on a used car. I had check ready with an amount in mind... and we were only about 1000 apart in price. the sales guy would not even take my offer to the sales manager. so I walked across the street and got the iv from rosenthal nissan. Rosenthall nissan ofered me two years of oil changes and life time safety and emission inspections.

I will probably end up at Koons Tysons for the recent recall...
