So I bought a 2006 prius with 156k miles on it in May of 2013 and love it. I deliver pizza's for Domino's 5+ days a week and drive over 30,000 miles every year. Going over speed bumps/humps everyday and all that jazz. I live in Florida by the way and going to take it down to Melbourne for the hybrid repair center down there instead of stealership. I have not had any problems with the car so far to date except a bearing replacement, general maintenance and a coolant pump which I did myself thanks to this awesome site! Starting in early December, my Brake, (!), and ABS light has been on and off. Now they stay on consistently and I am sure it's my actuator that needs replacement but it's so expensive. Somtimes when it sits overnight and gets cold the actuator works for about 3miles till it "warms up" I guess. I'm sure that not having the abs system working is costing me mpg Just wondering if you know of a place to get a good used actuator at with my taxes? And I need new tires! Got some 195/65R15 uniroyal on from the dealer I bought her at and have been getting around 44mpg with them up unto last month. Where it has dropped to around 40ish. They are pretty much bald now. I was thinking about trying the 195/65-15 FALKEN ZE-914 EcoRun 91V Or the195/65-15 YOKOHAMA AVID ASCEND 89T Both are at Onlinetires I can't post links yet or I would! I know the energy savers would probably be the best for mpg and how much I drive but spending the 500 on them is a bit cost prohibited for me at the moment. Where the Falken/Yokohama is right around 280+ a mount at a used tire shop. What do you guys think about them please? Thank you
Price the Bridgestone Ecopia 422 before you make your purchase. Good LRR tire and not expensive like the Michelin Energy Saver A/S Welcome to Prius Chat!
I have replaced many actuators. You can find them for about $100 used on Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market They are listed as Anti-Lock Brake Pump. If you are near Tampa I can recommend a mechanic to do it for you. Send me a PM As far as tires I recommend sticking with the stock size of 185/65r15. The 195's are wider are will have more resistance and weight. I also like the Ecopias if you can find a deal on them.
Thank you guys, I ended up going with the Falkens for $350 total with install. I am in Jacksonville and probably going to take the car down to Melbourne and have them do the brakes. Like the link thank you!
