Ok so I guess I'm spoiled in having vehicles that always had courtesy lights on the doors and it's just something I want to do. Thing is, the only idea I have is to tap into the dome light BUT then they would come on with the dome lamp. Is that the only solution, which I have no idea where the dome lamp wires are on the ecu side, or is there a spot that I could wire into so that it only comes on when the doors open? Any information pointing to where I can tap into for either solution would be great. If not, I'll probably dive into it in a few days and hopefully find a solution, if so I'll take pictures like the addition of the rear speakers in the past.
Ok so I took a different approach then taping the dome light directly. The sensor for the door is actually the ground and doesn't open the circuit until the door is closed, so I added the ground to there, and routed it through the door jam. From there I used one of the handy add a fuse from autozone and put that on the dome light in the engine bay and routed it also through the door jam etc. I'll get some pics at night but it worked out pretty well. I'm attatching a few photos of how I got the wires in. I used a wire hanger to get it through the rubber so I wouldn't damage it. Was a little hard to figure out how to get it through but the passenger side was done in less then 20 mins.
Thats right, no fading. I only used the dome fuse for constant power. Thee ground doesn't complete until the door opens and the sensor is released. Works pretty well all in all.
