i drive over 400 miles a week between los angeles and orange county, my front windows are tinted 20%. i've been pulled over on one occasion (speeding), and had my car closely inspected by several police officers on another occasion - no trouble w the tinted front windows. knock on wood.
Technically your not supposed to have them. Still see them around, but it's a gamble, you could get ticketed for it. I've even seen a cop rip someones tint right off the windows, take a chance with an donkey cop?
I drive 350 miles a week down San Diego freeways and I've never ever been heckled for tinted windows.
This action in itself is highly illegal. I wish a cop would touch my car in this manner. I'd have his job for that.
It is legal though in CA to tint just the top part of the front windows. As long as you don't tint the whole Window.
Thats why the Police Department I work for stopped writting "fixit" tickets....now 2 points $150! OUCH
