Anyone know if the Toyota software recall will affect owners of the 2012 Toyota C? Please reply if you have detail information on the recall...
At this point it only affects the regular Gen III Prius built during a specific date range... As far as I know (based on released info) the Prius C, Prius V and PiP are not affected.
To make sure, type your VIN into this page.. Toyota Safety Recall and Car Service Information Nothing found for my C2..
I don't have my VIN available this moment to check, but I'm hoping my 2012 Canadian base model is OK too. Nexus 5 ?
Funny - this morning I was at Motor Imports Service Center in downtown Honolulu for car's 20,000 mile service (last free one). We're sitting in the customer waiting room and what should come on during "Live!" with Kelly and Michael - Toyota Software Recall Notice for Prius... Kind of an awkward moment - didn't know whether to ask the service guys about it or not. "Excuse me - is my car gonna kill me or something?" Edited to add (is this accurate?): In the United States, the recall will affect about 700,000 model year 2010-2014 Prius vehicles and, combined, approximately 260,000 model Year 2012 Toyota RAV4, 2012-2013 Toyota Tacoma, and 2012-2013 Lexus RX 350.
Won't work for Hawaii owners - Toyota USA and Servco Toyota are two separate importers. The link doesn't recognize our VINs - keeps saying to enter a "valid" 17 digit Toyota VIN...
Finally got the chance to enter my VIN. 2012 Canadian base model, entered on the Canadian site, no recall. Sounds like the C isn't affected. Nexus 5 ?
I am going in for my 45,000 kilometer oil change on Friday. I will check with the dealer and report back. I am also going to see what kind of deal they can offer to trade in my '12 C for a '14
For owners having a problem entering their VIN Number in the toyota.com/recall web site, go to your DMV vehicle registion document. Copy that VIN number in the box asking for a 17 digit number. My Prius C had a VIN number larger than 17 digits. I entered the complete VIN and it was accepted by the toyota.com/recall web site. At this time, I believe the 2012 Prius C is not affected by the recall! A Prius C owner reported having 60,000 miles on his car without any software problems. I am not concerned about this recall...
Maybe our C's are involuntarily safe as their maximum voltage is 520V while the Prius III is 650V, so they are more likely to fry the transistors assuming both use the same electronic Sent ?
My dealer told me that the recall did not apply to the Canadian C and he was pretty sure that it only applied to the lift backs.
