Well the latest mod i did to Scoots is a Cold Air Intake, After reading most of the Pro/Con posts on here about performance gains with the Injen CAI on the Prius, I deiced "What The Hell" It looks Awesome and we love the sound at acceleration. The instal was supper easy, It took longer to take out the the Toyota Air Box than it took to instal the Injen CAI.

Hate to break it to you but that's a hot-air intake, not a cold-air intake.

But hot air has a better chance of improving fuel economy than cold air (air is less dense which means wider throttle openings for the same power output which means pumping losses should be lower), though with the Prius' Atkinson cycle engine it may not make much of a difference.

I agree, pretty much an aesthetic mod, not so much a performance mod.

    Looks great though. ;)

Like i said, I read alot of Pro/Cons on here about it. Sounds and looks great thats why we did. If i really cared about performance i wouldn't have put 18x8 Rims on her. :alien:

Yep, I have it on mine too. No difference....EXCEPT the sound under throttle....which does sound MUCH better.....and you have a laugh when someone asks; "What's under the hood?"

If you mean it is quieter than stock, I am interested.

I do not think you can get a 'cold air' intake on an Atkinson cycle engine, the Atkinson cycle pukes hot air back into the intake manifold by design. If you could, this is not it, as it gets air from the engine compartment, which is quite a bit hotter than outside air.

    Stock intake:

Thanks for posting the link. Mine is CAI according to the paperwork from INJEN. that scared me for a sec, had to go and check.

Notes on my install and un-install:
~ left the battery attached both times

~after the install we got ~ "stop and take it to the dealer" . The same message came up with and identical car from Enterprise and I did have it taken to the dealer on a flat bed. The tow driver dropped me off at Enterprise where another Prius model 1 was waiting. I asked at service a few days later if it was iron clad to stop and tow on that message and they had shrugged it off.
Well my CAI is for sale and it goes with few complaints the pick up and little noise are a nice set of features.

Well to be honest. It would probably give you a litte more in MPG or about the same. I avg. 42mpg before the intake. That avg. mpg. drop is from my rough rack and remote start. I know that was going to happen before I put both those on. Plus it doesn't help I drive my Prii like I stole it. Hahaha...

During the summer I avg. 42-45mpg. In the winter I avg. 40mpg, thats also do to me having a remote start and I don't have a garage. Most of my driving is 40mph and above. I rarely do city.

Feel free to ask anything else.

How bout one of these now for the other end? If you put a ricer muffler on it, you couldn't hear the intake so this might just do it.

Yeah if I put a muffler on it I'd just leave my foot in it more. Lol I race a 71' Toyota corolla(GT Lite) through SCCA. Yes, I realize the prius isn't a suitable race car. But I still like styling cars and racing.

I will probably add a quiet muffler and lower it with coil overs soon.
