New car, hard to adjust to seats and low level- used to an SUV. But, getting 50 mpg. Wish the dealer had warned me about back up beeping- I guess I don't remember hearing it on test drive!

Like there isn't an internet and a Toyota site with the ability to build your car and see what each individual package contains. Nor brochures. Nor a Monroney sticker on the window. I've bought two Toyotas from two dealers in two states in the last three years. In both I arrived at the dealer knowing the pricing I should be paying for a specific model and option level and what I would allow to be packed on and what I would decline or the deal was not going to be done.

In 1950 blaming the salesman made sense. Not now. It is within your capability to be an informed consumer.

(Just as, so as not to pick on just you, it is wise to read the darn manuals. Sure they are thick but you read them the first time and absorb some things and then go try those. Maybe you read again later and, with an added level of experience, learn some more features. You didn't learn how to use a computer in one session, why expect to do the same for a vehicle with more than a dozen computers inside. )

I really wish the dealer would have told us that the Prius C 1 didn't come with rear speakers or the ability to add a cargo cover later down the road…

The fuel gauge doesn't suck, it just monitors the rate of said suckage by the engine. ;)

What the little symbol that looks like a car means, it says it equals 30 wh ? I think it has to do with the battery but not sure.

I wish the dealer would have told me how to change the key fob to unlock all doors from the driver's side. This forum taught me how :D

It's super easy! With the engine off, hold the lock and unlock buttons on your key fob until the display shows all doors open. It took about 3 seconds for it to show up.

Why didn't I just look here? Is that all there is to it? I read the manual, which I had a very hard time understanding. I got it done, but it took several minutes, lots of beeping, holding buttons, and wondering about the sequence. In the end, I wasn't really sure I had accomplished the task until I unlocked the doors.

I wish I would have been told the Green HOV sticker IS NOT GOOD for the So Cal toll roads. (we were in fact told by them and a couple of other dealers that the sticked gave us free passage).

That would have been $150/month savings we were counting on as part of the decision making process.

Still love the car, just not over the moon with the decision as before.

Are there instructions somewhere on this forum for doing this yourself? Or does it have to be done by the dealer? I'm picking up my 2014 PiP base tonight, hopefully.

I love my certified pre-owned 2011 Prius 4 with just under 19,000 mi. The salesman at Toyota Santa Monica was thorough in stepping me through the what seemed like an overwhelming number of features coming from my ten year old Mazda 3 with 247,000 miles. Still, he didn't inform me about:
    • Changing the touch feature on the driver door to open all 4 doors
    • The physical metal key inside the key fob
    • The decent alloy wheels beneath the hubcaps (I immediately returned an unopened box of two new hubcaps to Amazon that I ordered to replace the curbside ones that were scraped up a bit)
    • That the back-up beeper can be changed
    • This forum and this thread in particular! Thanks all for the great information.
