Hello all, Some of you won't care, but some might be interested to see this. Here is a page of my data thus far. It will automatically update when I add a new fill up. Please feel free to let me know if you think I'm missing data that you would like to see. Thanks! My Fill Up Data
A lot of good information. When my wife and I got our new 1999 VW Beetle TDI, I tracked fuel consumption for seven years. With the Prius, I only track my fill ups, date, mileage, and number of gallons. I know I'm getting excellent fuel mileage. The best in my life time, with no need for the actual numbers.
You only had your PiP for 6+ months? Nice data. 1/3 EV and 2/3 HV for you so far. Gas efficiency with winter is 50 MPG. You EV efficiency is out of this world at 167 MPGe.
Yep, got it early June. The EV MPGe should keep dropping throughout winter unfortunately. My goal would be to be above 150 on my 1 year anniversary.
I should explain one stat. The "Home kWh" is just what I charge at home. I then use that stat to figure my cost per mile. So in other words I'm not counting any charge that I don't pay for in my cost per mile (but obviously still am for my EV MPGe).
Added a couple more fill ups. My Fill Up Data One thing I've noticed.... These last three fill ups have been my first true "winter" fill ups. And all three are almost a 7% difference between the computer and actual tank MPG. I was averaging closer to 3.5% before these last three. Is there a reason why this is accentuated in the winter?
Three new fill ups added. Had my worst tank yet; which was below 40 mpg! But that was also hurtling through MN and northern IA at over 70 mph at about 2 degrees F and with about 400 pounds of IKEA products in the back.
Great data, Mark. Thanks. This supports my theory that moving the short trips to EV takes the worst gas mpg use and converts it to the highly efficient EV mpge reflective of the low speeds that tend to go along with short trips. So while your HV mpg may only be comparable to the hybrid no-plug, the overall is much improved. Further, the emissions even in our coal-happy region are much lower for the EV miles due to avoiding those ICE warm-ups.
Quick question.... I know we have a EV mileage thread, but do we have an overall highest mileage thread for the PiP? I may make a run for it within a year or two.
Markabele, Have you thought about adding your Fill-Up data to the MPG Spreadsheet and compare it to others using it? PIP & MPG Spreadsheet | PriusChat
