Just got into a new 2014 Prius Sedan - 5 Style!! It came with the AY package, CF (Floor Mats) and a bunch of other dealer add-ons: Illuminated Door Sills, KARR alarm, Sealant Package, Door Edge Guards. The dealer add-ons are *very* expensive; The illuminated door sills are suppose to MSRP at $279 but the dealer had it at $500. The "Security System" MSRP at $359 but dealer had it at $795. After a bit of a battle, I ended up paying $150 for the door sills and $295 for the alarm (*sigh*). I got away with not paying for the door guards ($200) and the "paint sealant" ($795). I know I got the guards (I can see those), but have no clue about the sealant (invisible to naked eye). I walked out the door paying $32,781, just under $1000 below invoice ($33,746 inc Doc Fee, Dest, Ad Fee) and paid another $2972 in CA Taxes and Fees. I really should have said no to the alarm but the door sills was a deal breaker as they were already installed and the dealer was not prepared to take them off. After the transaction was over, I had a wonderful drive home! Got the chance to test out the LKA and the Dynamic Cruise Control;*awesome*. The LED head lights are very nice, better than my 2004 Infiniti G35 HIDs. Still getting used to how the car accelerates and brakes. Keyless lock/unlock is pretty neat too. Overall, car drives very well but that lack of pick-up and go is a bit of a downer...then again, it's a Prius, I cannot expect it to match the G35. I probably could have gotten a better deal, but then again, I didn't spend that much time looking or even haggling on price - I spend more time working that door sill and alarm price down. Oh, this was an internet sale. One lesson I learned is to try and find a dealership that has the car you want on their lot. Dealer-to-dealer Car Exchange can complicate things - long story short, my local dealer walked away from the sale over $150 (yes, the door sills). I called the out-of-city dealer that had the car. That dealer said, "come and get it, we'll match the price". 1.5hrs later, I was at the other dealership and made the purchase. Now, I did waste my time and gas (round trip, etc). But the local dealer also lost out on a sale and my desire to take my car there for maintenance (There are plenty of other local dealerships I can go to). Well, one more member to the Prius Family....
Hi GlobalTrash can you post a picture of your car, especially the LED lights if possible. Thks and welcome to Prius chat!
Lack of pick up..... Try the Power button next time you need a little bit more go. It may surprise you. Enjoy your new ride.
Indeed, the power button does make a nice difference. At the moment, I am driving the prius as I would my normal car. Yes, I know I am not taking full advantage of the Prius savings. My goal with this is to see, just how much of a savings I get driving the car as I would my G35. I have always been a light/medium foot driver, but a "slow driving" G35 is given more patience than the Prius driving in the same fashion, at least that is what I've found so far this week. Yeah, I'll post pictures when I get a chance. Thanks for all the welcomes!
It's hard having to give up "my baby". That was my graduation gift to myself (Univ) and my first step into the "lux" world. Now I'm married, own a house, and planning on having kids....I'm no Bill Gates, so the "lux" life will be going away soon ;-) Selling my G for a Pri is just one more [sad] step....hahaha, so dramatic!...OK, life isn't all bad and I am finding that I am *very* much enjoying life with a Pri. --Juan
