Oh Diane, I hope you are right!! What is so interesting, is that it happens much, much more with my iPhone 5 on iOS7 than it does on my iPhone 4S on iOS6. I'm due for service, so I'll see if Entune can be updated. Maybe I'll even look at some upgrades to the whole in-dash unit...

I purchased a Certified 2012 Prius today, with only 33K miles. I am quite new to the Display Audio, Bluetooth and everything. As I was driving home, it rebooted a few times while I was playing with things. This was in an hour time frame on an iPhone 4S I figured it was something I did while playing with it. I will keep an eye on it. I know a Toyota Master Tech, Hybrid Certified and he has not heard of any issues of the Nav systems rebooting while driving down the highway. Thanks for sharing & please keep us posted.

Shall do, RumPir8. I called my dealer, Crown Toyota in Ontario, California and spoke to my previous Service Rep. He remembered me--partially because I brought in a video of the reboot occurring. Anyhow, I explained that this must be fixed. If it is an Entune glitch, update it. If it's bad memory/disk, replace it. If it is a systemic issue that necessitates a TSB or recall, GET 'ER DONE, TOYOTA! I'll continue to post updates as they arrive...

I drove my 2000 Camry four-banger for 11 years and 280k miles. I love Toyota. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt. But, they need to step up and own this. Update Entune. Replace rebooting customer's failing components. Don't deny known, widespread issues.

Keep in mind that a 2013 vehicle was probably tested in 2010 or 2011 and what as out at thAt time? iPhone 4 on iOS 5. Why don't they then at least publish a list of approved/tested/compatible phones and software versions? At lease for the big guys like Apple--and then step up and support the customer.

If Toyota does not step up--maybe I will revert to iPhone 4 on iOS 5--as I have some spares through my business...

The list updated monthly gives the appearance that Toyota do ongoing testing of smartphone's, OS's and various models of Entune.

I have a prius 2013 persona and it reboots the bluetooth connection at least once, and sometime twice on my short (25 min) commute...very annoying! I tried using my ipad mini today instead, to listen to music, but the same thing happened. Not sure what to do. How would the car download an update anyway - automatically?

UPDATE: Toyota has now seen more of this issue. They have a fix, and will be replacing some type of 'extension' which somehow interfaces with the Bluetooth and/or NAV and/or display head unit. (When I get the car back next week, I'll post exact details.) The bottom line is, that this issue has been resolved in the past, by getting this 'extension' replaced. Good luck to everyone else in need of this repair...

    everyone! My first post...

I am having this same problem, but I can tell you it is NOT the iphone. I had an iphone 5, my wife had a 4s, and my son had a 4. All three caused this exact issue: the entire audio/nav system would restart at random times.

We recently switched phone carriers and bought Nexus 5 Android devices -- SAME PROBLEM. About a month or two ago, we brought it into the dealer, who logged in the issues, updated the system, and etc. But they found nothing wrong and claimed that there was nothing "out there" about this issue. Who knows.

It's terrible, though - it seems to restart at the worst times... on the phone with my boss or wife... needing crucial directions from the nav system... ugh.

Least favorite part of my car, which I otherwise love.

Be safe, all! Figure this out and post a solution!

Is Toyota offering a solution in their Entune Phone Compatibility List, saying the combination (Display Audio + iPhone) requires a USB connection?

NO MORE REBOOTS!! My issue has been fixed, after Toyota replaced the "extension" module or something like that. I'd suggest taking your affected car back to the dealer. Make them replace the extension module. Don't accept no for an answer. I spent WAY too much time on this issue, being an unpaid beta tester for Toyota. Don't let my work be in vain. Get 'er done.

If you want to ensure a resolution, take a video of the issue occurring. (If you have a spare camera or iPod touch or even an old iPhone, that works great for this.) Set it up so you can record the display/nav screen. Press record, and you will eventually capture the reboot in action. Once you show the video to Toyota, insist (politely) that they must fix the issue. Direct them to this thread.

    Good luck!

P.S. Now my GPS thinks I am in North Carolina instead of California, but I'll get that fixed next service appointment.

Thank you so much for the posts on this problem! I have a 2013 Persona and an iPhone 5S and I'm having the exact same issues! I had the same problem with my iPhone 5 as well. The constant starts and restarts are making me crazy! I love the bluetooth feature but I hate how much it restarts itself. On just my morning commute, which is 20 minutes, the bluetooth will restart 2 to 3 times. I'm taking my car in for regular service and the recall on Saturday and I'm going to ask them about this. I want it fixed.

Can you tell me about this extension fix? Did they replace the unit or just do something with the unit you had? How long did it take for them to fix it, once they had your car? I'm at the point where I just want to give up on the bluetooth because it's making me crazy. But if there's a solution, I want my car fixed. Thanks again!

In my case, due to my work schedule, I actually left the car with them for days. But my understanding is that once they get the part, it is not a hefty installation. But you might need to bring your car back after they receive the part, for instance.

Don't give up! Print this thread out and show it to them, speak with the manager's manager, whatever you have to do. It is unacceptable that they make us jump through so many hoops. You can hopefully benefit from all my time & energy spent on this. (That would actually make it much more worthwhile, if it helps others.) Good luck!

I spoke to the service adviser about it on Saturday. I specifically mentioned this thread and the extension module. He told me that he's had a lot of complaints with the Prius, all very similar to my issue. He told me that he would ask their tech adviser about it. After the service was complete, the service adviser told me that they had installed the extension module on another person's Prius and it didn't fix the problem. Not sure how true that is. He assured me that Toyota is aware of the problem and is working on a fix. I'm going to call back in a few days and bug them about it.

At least they acknowledged that they know of the problem. And the adviser described exactly what mine is doing. I feel sorry for you, that you actually had to prove what was happening for them to even bother with it. That's ridiculous. I'll follow up in a few days, hopefully I'll hear something soon!

    FINAL UPDATE:
The failing component which Toyota replaced for me is called a "radio extension module" and when it was replaced, my rebooting-NAV issues went away and have not returned. (The reason my GPS showed North Carolina instead of my correct California location is because the service tech who replaced the radio extension module DID NOT RE-CONNECT THE GPS ANTENNA. Nice.

I'm getting my nav system looked at today for the same issue, I'll post more information after the visit. I'm running iOS 7 on an iPhone 4.

The dealer said they are going to contact tech support and be in touch with me soon.
