I just received my 2006 Toyota Prius moulding. After reading earlier posts, it seems many people installed the moulding 13 inches up from the bottom of the lower door edge for both the front and rear doors. The new instructions say to meaure up 13 3/4 inches from the rear door lower edge and up 13 inches from the front door lower edge. My question is, which measurements are right? Photos I have seen where people have used the first measurements, look like the moulding is going down hill.
I had mine professionally installed, but was allowed to stay and watch (infact, I was able to help apply it). What "we" did was run a strip of tape (designed to be easily removed) from a spot on the outside of the front bumper to a spot on the outside of the rear bumper. We did this on both sides so that we knew it was in the same place. What made it nice is that, with the tape applied, I could stand back and look at the location and determine if I liked it there or not. If not, it could be moved until it was in a place I liked. Once we got it in a place I liked, the moldings were applied along the line of the tape. We didn't measure anything. I think it looks great. It is "going downhill," but it looks to me as if it flows with the vehicle.
I just had my mouldings installed for $40.00. I did not watch them install the them, but they used the 13 inch and 13 3/4 inch meaurments. The mouldings look great.
Can you put up a picture? I bought moldings from Pepboys and am not sure where they should go. I have 1" width black. Thanks.
I took a straight edge 13 3/4" in front and 13" in back, drew a line with a colored grease pin and marked the front and end of each strip. I then cleaned the area where the strip was going with alcohol, applied the adhesive glue from the tubes and applied the strips by pulling back only 2" at one end of the molding, aligning the end that is not sticking and pressing down the sticky end, pulling off the protective tape as I pushed down the molding. First side took 20 minutes and the other side took five.
I am looking into doing this, where did you get the mouldings? sigma? or somewere else.. What colors do they come in? I have driftwood pearl, but I heard somewere that on one persons car the painted moulding was cracking off...?
Just received my side moulding from Metro, but no instructions! Anyone have a set you can fax/email to me? email [email protected] fax - 310-207-0022 attn Michael Smith Thanks!!
Not missing much, do a search here for way better info and some good techniques! I got much more insight for mine here. I can offer; measure, measure, measure, before you mount. That tape is forever. I used masking tape for guidelines and to 'drymount' and adjust. Happy hunting
Did you get the alcohol pads and the contact cement then? They were wrapped inside the my instructions.
When I installed my moulding , I used 14" at the back and 13" at the front which gave the moulding a slight rake. I used masking tape to lay out the moulding first.

Am interested in installing white (match the car) molding and tomato red pin striping. Anyone on here done that. Is "Metro" the only place that sells molding for the Prius? How do I contact them? redbaron in Hershey, Pa
