I'm thinking about buying a Prius C but by living in Florida, I care a lot about the strength of the air condition and how much the car heats up sitting in the sun. How does it compare to a Honda Fit, the normal Prius, and other subcompact cars? I know that we haven't seen any real heat yet but there have been some hot days already.
i do not know how it compares to those other cars.. but it seems to work fine. also, realize that having the car in Eco mode.. it'll regulate the A/C so it won't use as much energy
I'm in north TX where we have 30+ days over 100F and 70%+ humidity, yay me. The A/C was a concern to me too. In fact is was the first thing I tested before moving the shifter into drive on the test drive. Worked really well. I know the Eco mode can change how well it works, but plan on just turning it off when it gets brutal here in a couple of months.
I have not used AC much, because it has mainly been chilly here, But the climate control works really nice, heat or AC. I do know that I was surprised to find that it wasnt heated up inside one day, when I was planning on it being hot inside. I thought that was nice. Even so, I am gonna tint it up 20% or so on all four door side windows to keep it cool. I wont tint the back window, but may bring it down 6-8 inches on the windshield for sun visor.
The best AC I have ever used is in my Lexus LS 400. Its COLD! AC is very important to me and I pretty much use it every day of the year. The AC in my C comes pretty close to the coldness and quickness of cooling the car down as my Lexus. I give it a 10!
I drive a Honda Fit and a Prius liftback. The Prius A/C is awesome - quick kick in and cold. I live in NC where it gets pretty hot and I can tell you the A/C on the Fit struggles. It takes several minutes to cool the car down and is not robust. I am curious about the Prius C A/C as well and like what I am hearing. Oops....just saw the date on the posts.......
