Well, it's Prius to the rescue. There's no power in the neighborhood again, so I have my power inverter hooked up to the 12V battery to keep the food refrigerated. Yea!
BTW - here's a video I did on how you can get totally portable power (without a Prius) using an inverter and portable jump starter. Not nearly as much power as the Prius can provide, but plenty for small items like a lamp, radio, laptop / iphone charger, etc. :
Can you lock it from the outside when in ready mode? I recall trying to do that on a recent "0"F morning where I went outside and started the PIP (went to ready mode then put defroster on at 68F which caused the ICE to instantly start up) and IIRC I was unable to lock it using the fob from outside the car while it was in ready mode...
I haven't tried it yet, but can you manually press lock on the inside of the door and then close the door? Or does that not work?
You have to lock it with the mechanical key - that's what I did when I had my C in Ready for 54 hours straight, powering my house after Sandy in 2012.
Less than two gallons, but I was only running a very small inverter to bring up my steam heat, a couple of lights, and the internet. I can't post a link from here but if you search posts under my user name in November 2012 there's a detailed write up.
