This is a pretty trivial question but google and the owner's manual didn't help me so here goes: 2008 Prius bought new has a yellow plexiglass or tempered glass (not sure) square roughly 5 inches by 5 inches in the storage box above the spare tire location. It must be intentional as there is an indent in the plastic storage box for it. I can't figure out what this is for at all unless it is to add gratuitous rattles to the car, like it does in mine. Any ideas?
No answer here but a very interesting question. Mine has the square'ish indentation, to the right of the tire changing tools in the plastic tub but I never saw anything in it. Maybe it's something dealerships use to prep the car and then are supposed to remove?
Above is the "glass" piece and also a picture of the portion of the storage bin where I thought it fit, but on second look the glass is a little bigger than the indentation. I got the glass with the car which I bought new.
Could it be part of the emergency kit that Toyota sells? It looks like it could be a little reflective
