hello I just got a 2012 prius 3. and was wordering if the Nexen CP671 P195/65/15 tires are ok on the prius for everyday driving to and from work. total of 30 miles to work. the reason I ask is I know a garage who is blowing these out at $125. for 2.
never heard of them. Most people on the forum stick to Bridgestone or Michelin. I recommend a good LRR tire. Check tirerack.com and other posts on this forum.
Nexen is a Chinese manufacturer if I'm not mistaken. That's why they're cheap. I had a pair of them on my Camry as replacements when I had a blow out and rim damage after running over some debris on the freeway. Ran them for 30k miles with no problems. In fact, they were quieter than the oe Bridgestone tires they replaced. Don't know if the ones you are thinking about are LRR tires or not, but they should be for consideration for mounting on the Prius. SCH-I535
Nexen is a South Korean tire company like Kumho and Hankook. Hyundai and KIA use them as a OE tire. The CP671 aren't LRR tires. Nexen labels them as a performance all season tire. They're the OE tire on the KIA Optima and Hyundai Veloster Nexus 7 ?
Checking the Nexen CP671 tyre on the UK RR figures required by law within the EU the tyre rates depending on size an E to C rating on a scale of A to G. A being the best, it also rates C for wet grip, but it's noise rating is very poor at 75db. The best tyres rate at 67/68 db and tyres with ratings above 72db (not including specialist tyres) are to be excluded from sale in the near future. John (Britprius)
