Hi. In Nov. 2013 I purchased a used 2010. It came with some white staining on the otherwise black plastic strip of trim on the driver's door/window, as shown in the photo below. Does anyone else have this problem, know what the staining might be, and how to get rid of it? Could it be "wear" from the previous driver using their hands on this location to close the door when they exit the car? Thanks!
I have the same type of stains on the inside of my car. Mine is from my kids wiping sun block everywhere. I haven't found anything to get rid of it, I was afraid to use any harsh cleaners that can strip the black off the interior.
Thanks for the reply. Sunblock. Interesting. I'm in L.A. too. Could be that the previous owner used sunblock a lot.
Sunblock, hand lotions, and oils from skin will cause staining on black/dark surfaces in and out of the car. The best way to prevent it is to be consistent with cleaning the affected surfaces when you wash the car.
