Cancelled my fidelity care platinum warranty coverage just this morning on my first 5k mile service. It's all tihsllub!
Wondering what made you decide. I canceled within the thirty day period without paying that administrative fee. I had a close friend in the New car business, been in the business for thirty some years. He said it was a cash cow for dealers and I thought $2500.00 was out of my league. Told me to cut it loose wasn't worth it on Toyota Prius.
Same here, I own a 2010 prius level 3. At 50k miles no problems. My battery 12volt is getting ready for replacement.
Check out Jerry Johnson at Midwest Toyota for warranty purchases. Last month, the local dealer here charged my parents $2500 for a 7yr/75k warranty (this was a counter offer after initially offering it for $2700) on their Camry Hybrid LE. After doing research, I found you can buy these warranties from other dealers, even out-of-state ones. It turns out the price this Jerry guy offered for the same warranty was $650. That's nearly 4x cheaper! Even more, he was offering an 8yr/100k warranty for $1100, still over half cheaper than local dealer's inferior warranty. So he's, I recommend everyone cancel and either pricematch local dealers (preferable, as I'd rather support them than some dealer in Kansas) or buy from Jerry
I'll second Midwest Toyota, I didn't buy the warranty, but I got my C2 for a steal last summer with 0%, no other dealer would touch it. I flew out, sales guy met me at the airport with the car and I drove her home, easiest car buying experience ever....
Funny story: Bought an MPP extended warranty from my Toyota dealer on my C2. Cost was $1500, down from $2500. Returned it months later when it wouldn't cover maintenance like they said it would (only covers oil changes, not the entire deal). They lied to me, but they only refunded a prorated amount, which was $850ish. Dealer is Joe Myers Toyota here in Houston, one of the worst I've come across. On the flip side, I bought an MPP warranty from Joe Myers Ford on my Mustang. Why? When I said no, the finance guy said he'd rather I got the warranty than the loan they offered. So he dropped his commission off the interest on the loan and saved me enough to make the $1180 warranty a $150 warranty. I'm paying my loan off early so the warranty is more than free.
I just purchased an extended warranty from Jerry (I live in California) and he was great. Extremely responsive and helpful!
