So I bought my wheels and now am looking for tires. I live in Washington state so I am looking for a good all season tire. I have been doing some research and came across these. The specs look pretty good and weigh in at 17lbs. I don't think they are LRR though. Anyone use these? Would love to hear about the obvious MPGs, but also about road noise and handling. Thanks
Continental does make some low rolling resistance all season tires, you might check out: Continental PureContact with EcoPlus Technology I have a friend who just got these and seems happy with them so far, but this is in California. I'm unsure how these compare to the ones you are looking at.
Even the prius that come with the plus size factory rims are not LLR. I don't believe they make LLR for 16" wheels (195/16) . I have played with my pressure and run it higher; I've tried 40/38, and 38/36 and still get 48 mpg with a 50/50 of highway and city; my average freeway speed is about 70-75 and city I just plain abuse the hell out of the pedal with the stop/go and protecting MY space, lol.
I don't know if my 17" Toyo tires are LRR but they have a 50k mile warranty which seemed good enough to me given that they handle really well.
The wheels I "bought" were not the ones I wanted when I went to pick them up. So it is back to looking for the right ones. Thanks for all the replies, it is very helpful information.
