Going in at 10:00 tomorrow morning. What if any TSB's or other service points to ask about being done? I already asked for the 3.1 Entune update, to change reverse alarm to one beep and turn off the seatbelt alarm. Hopefully they will honor my request to the service writer (and note I will leave on the dash) set tire pressures at 42/40, please NOT reset my trip A, trip B or TPMS monitor. I will record my data test case. 2013 PiP Base. PS. I may even take my newly arrived Euro mudflaps in to see what they would charge to paint them blizzard pearl.
Sometimes when I am the passenger I want to take off my jacket or unhook the seatbelt temporarily for some other reason. To us this alarm is extremely annoying. We personally do not need an alarm to remind us to put our seatbelts on. It's just a habit, we don't forget.
They already said they would and it is listed in chapter 6 of the manual under customizable right under changing reverse alarm to one beep.
Curious, have people reported their dealers refusing to turn off the seatbelt alarm? As opposed to being unaware that it CAN be turned off and telling people it's not possible. I have been surprised at the number of things dealers said they were unaware of or that could not be done. That is, until an informed customer shows them the information in the manual or from online that in fact they can and do do this service or item.
Correct, many people have been denied. Some people have even been denied getting the reverse beep stopped. I think there might be a difference between what the manual says is possible and what the dealership is willing to do. I can't necessarily blame them, from a liability standpoint. They would rather be safe than sorry. I'm sure you understand that as well, given today's legal world.
If I receive resistance, I will pesist that they er on the side of customer satisfaction than an over sensitive liability concern. I'll report back later today.
Like fast food workers, you never know what they can do behind the scenes in retaliation to an annoying/unruly customer. I would err on the side of being too nice to them.
no tsb's that i can recall. at my first service, they rotated the tyres and overfilled the oil. that was it. and that was enough.
. My service writer said seat belt alarm could not be turned off for safety reasons, that the manual was '50 state' and did not apply the same in all states. When we met and through our discussion I was very friendly and courteous, but that is my nature anyway. Pleasantly, I told him I understood this possibility, but because it was so annoying, if he could show me the rule that made him unable to do it, that I would appreciate it very much. That's my best shot at getting this done here. If not, I'll need to learn to do it myself via Torque. When I requested Trip A & B not be reset, he said that might not be possible when they reset the service data. I told him this procedure was done using the MPH/KPH button, not the Trip button. Then he wrote down my request. He noted my tire pressure request 42/40 and not to reset TPMS system. He asked me to describe the problem I was having with Entune (2.2?) and I did. I told him I heard this update fixes my 'phone audio coming on repeatedly by itself' problem. Maybe they would resist the upgrade unless you had a problem, as I had read of some here. They will finish by 1:30 or sooner if they can. I'll report back on the outcome. Update 11:15- Service writer just asked me if I wanted seat belt warning turned off for both driver and passenger. I said both, thank you very much!
Service writer had to lie on request sheet that I was having trouble with my Etune other wise they would not have upgraded it!
A happy outcome! Whew... Yesterday I had the Nav/Entune upgrade done. I definitely had to state that I was having problems with both, which was true. In Nav mode, I had streets disappearing, no matter the zoom factor, and Entune was automatically starting iPhone music play. The service rep took my word with no fuss, but the install took a lot more than "5 minutes", more like 45.
Wow. So much anxiety and uneasiness over getting a car serviced. You have to tip toe around the service writers, leaving notes and repeated reminders not to do this and that. It's a wonder any of these dealerships ever see anyone after the sale. What a PITA
On the drive home from the dealer I was pleased NOT to have Entune repeatedly start playing what was last played on my iPhone 4S. Also, after Mapquest gave a voice notice to 'turn ahead', Entune did not start playing the iPhone as it had done before. Very happy with that loss of nuisance. BUT, as I was pulling into my driveway (I had turned off Mapquest 5 mins before), my iPhone music started on it's own. I don't know what cued Entune to incorrectly start it. But one time in a 45 min drive is way better than every 5 minutes! I got there at about 10:20 and the car was finished at 1:00, which was fine with me.
