Welcome to the family. If it's cold where you're at, you'll probably have to wait for warmer weather to see 54 mpg.

Congratulations. I see fog lights, looks like shes loaded.

The first few tanks won't net you very good gas mileage. If you're in the middle of this winter freeze, you also might not see big numbers till after it warms up a little. Even in 40 and 50 degree weather I see noticeably better mileage than what I get in 20 and 30 degree weather (and it's not even going to be that warm for a few days).

Is it just the angle or is it a C4 16" alloys with no moonroof???

I thought most/all C3-4 comes with the moonroof...unless I guess you personally ordered it from Toyota w/o it

    congratz

hi everyone, sorry for the late responses, but i have been on a shhort trip that helped me to try a bit more my car.

coyote303: its quite hot here, actually 86 right now, and every day is above 70. i live in beach area, so its quite sunny and warm.

Fauxknight: i hope the next tanks do a better job, so far i did a 125 mile trip and took 4 pips (i assume that a pip is more or less than a gallon), so i am getting around 31 mpg. i did read an earlier post from you, and seems that the car has a break - in period to archieve maximun efficiency.

SwhitePC: this is a quite strange car, has fog lamps but no seat warmer, has fewer airbags, has no dimmer for the control panel, the key fob is only for locking and unlocking (no alarm sounds). i have 15'' alloys, and sun roof or bigger wheels never were an option, its not in the states, so i think its the way the bring it here. an american friend told me he wanted something like this model, since he also has no use for seat warmers but wanted fog lights.

ztanos & ewaboy: i have a friend with a liftback and he gets over 48 mpg but so far i know no one here who archieves something like 54 mpg. i know people all over internet do crazy stuff (some guy did over 100 mpg with a liftback) but that is something i cannot currently reach.

one quick question: every day i start up the car, no matter how full the batery was when i parked i al ways start at 2 bars, its that a normal behavior?

Are you talking lifetime? For a trip? Or for a tank? This car is extremely simple to get 54 for a trip, just do a trip of more than 10 miles at 50 miles per hour. Let the cruise control do it for you... as long as the road is generally flat, you shouldn't have a problem. Tank and lifetime are harder.

it was the same trip, we went on two separate times to the same place, following more or less the same route.

he got a higher mpg over the same(ly) miles.

the route was in city traffic and we never went over 50 mph.

unfortunately, my daily trip is full of slopes, with city traffic and i will note be able to use cruise control for that (it is also quite short, 6ish miles each way).

If he's in a liftback and you're in a C in the conditions you described, you should have gotten better MPGs. Have you watched the video on pulse and glide?

Yeah, 6 miles will probably get you right around 50-55 depending on the slopes and the temps.

Create a Fuelly account if you haven't done so. Will give a more accurate picture of your MPGs.

My C's MPG reading is on the high side about 3+ mpg. Fuelly 2 year average is below.

Average trip is about 22 miles - usually hit high 50s on the C's display. For roughly the last several thousand miles - the car says it's gotten about 54+.

My mileage is creeping up since I retired as my daily work commute one way was 9.4 miles.

    YMMV - again - literally.:)

ztanos: i haven't watched the video, will search for it, i think he had more experience in the driving of an hybrid and is used to MPG enhancing - techniques.

ewaboy: i created a fuelly account, now i have to wait until the next fill up to check how i am doing. one thing that worries me, its the trip screen when i turn off the car, it shows me something like 30 ish mpg

Everytime? Even on longer trips? If so, check to make sure that the vent in the back seat drivers floor board isn't blocked by anything.

is not blocked, we carry nothing back there, all is in the trunk.

strange enough in a really short trip (less than a mile) it showed 80mpg hehe

In my short experience I've noticed that when you start the car that is already warm (IE I made a short stop at the mini market or something) it starts with a 99MPG and stays that way until the ICE is started, it starts dropping from there. Usually I use EV Mode from the mini-mart to my home so it stays at 99MPG (if I have enough battery to get home without using the ICE).

Hi wilson_h and welcome! Do you mind telling us which country you are in (or better yet, put it in the Location field of your profile)? It will help us give you appropriate answers for your car.

The dimmer for the control panel is operated differently in some markets. You will probably find that when you have your lights on, there is an extra item in the sequence when you press the trip button on the steering wheel. Between Trip B and ODO, you'll get an additional item where you adjust the dash dimming setting.

rcortespr: i have been able to replicate that behavior, but only for short stops(my best would be 88mpg in a series of short trips with 5 min intervals) quite strange

rob.au: i am from panama. today i will check if i am able to access the aditional item for the dimming.

on a side note, i did my first half tank at fuelly, and it shows 31 mpg, hope it improves later

oh i saw the pulse and glide video, this is fine without anyone behind you, but its kinda ...dickish to do in heavy city traffic, isn't? tried to do it on a highway and it did improve my ratings for that trip, going over 60 mpg at 55mph

I didn't track my first few tanks, but I know I didn't break 50 mpg on a tank until after the car had at least 1500-1800 miles on it.

Just entered my last few tanks, one was a short fill up 250 miles at only 44 mpg. Winter sucks, but my average is still over 55.
