I know that many PC'ers post their Hov sticker# to update those who are waiting. I received my CA Hov stickers today, 2/24. My check was cashed on 2/16. The issue # is 49399.
Ken, I sent my application to the DMV on 1/30 (I thought I had to wait for my plates.) The check was stamped 2/16, and cleared my bank on 2/21. Funny..., I am having a problem dealing with uglifying my Silver Guru.
According to a very knowlegdeable source- they probably will not cut it off at 50,000 - because they do not have time to do an evaluation. Suggest you all start lobbying your local congressperson (CA State) to continue it in 2008 when it dies at the end of 1/1/2008.
New owner here and have got a question. On the dmv form for hov stickers there are two that printed out do we have to send in both or just one Thanks Rich
Just send in one. Make sure you complete all information on the form. Also, don't forget your $8.00 fee.
darelldd- let us know the number when you get it! It may well be 50,001 ... They said there are over the 75,000 hybrids out there that qualify, but many did not apply- maybe they did not need them, hated the size/color, or maybe no car pool lanes around them ( I know there are very few in Sand Diego county)...
My check cleared my bank today. I saw an image of my check on my bank's web page. Someone handwrote the number 50026 on the back. That could be my sticker number or something completely different - time will tell I suppose. I mailed my application on February 7.
inventor - I'll definitely post it when I get it. Sounds like a reasonable assumption to me! Mine was mailed on Feb 15, the day I picked up the car, so I'm a week behind. And if this is correct, I'll be lucky to get in before 51k... and if this is correct, they didn't stop them at 50k, which is good news for me!
Still checking my bank account online daily to see when my check gets cashed. Mailed in the application (w/VIN) + fee on Weds 2/8. Nothing yet...
Well, yours will be tomorrow then. I suppose that everybody worries like I do that maybe I did something "wrong" on the form?

I was worried that my application would be opened before my dealer turned in my paperwork to the DMV. Since I didn't know if the stickers would be cut off at 50K then, I actually mailed my application 9 days before I picked up my car.
I don't think I did anything wrong on the form. I spent a morning at work looking it over, filling it out, and double checking it vs. some of the threads on here about HOV applications to make sure I had the right info on there, etc. I mailed it out mid-day, then picked up my car later that evening. I think we're just a bit anxious to be some of the blessed few who get to use the HOV lanes without a passenger.
I got the VIN from the dealer before I pick up my car and mailed it next day and had no problems. I received the stickers today, #49138.
Err... well, not really. I've had HOV stickers on the Rav4EV for over three years now, and on two other cars before that. I just ALSO want them on the Prius. Funny part is, I almost never need them since I'm normally a carpool anyway. I think somebody should be paying me to cross the bridge - I'm so damn *beneficial*.
What day was it that you mailed it? We've seen stickers with way higher numbers than that, which came in weeks ago. Crazy. Do they shuffel them?
I overnighted the application on 2/9/2006, and they recevied it at 6am on 2/10/2006 per USPS web site.
