The pre heater I ordered is manufactured by Defa (Norweigan I think)
It consist of a block heater, usually 300-500Watts and then there is a cabin heater also from Defa. In Sweden they are often at least 700Watts. All in all to take full advantage of a 220V 6Ampere outlet. When sub-zero degrees and often down to -10-20 degrees celsius you need this pre heating.
Looking forward to the summer :)

you're right, but when you're only going a few miles here and there in this weather, the ice won't provide much heat anyway.:)

Yes on sub-zero degrees to get rid of the ice on the windows.

With grill blocking starts raising cabin temps pretty fast, I'd say in less than 5 minutes.

"Starts" is the key word there.

It all depends on trip length/duration.

I need to check that out, grill blocking. I have read about it but don't know how exactly how it's done. I have seen a few threads about it here.
    Thanks.

Yep, I have at least two trips a day of 2.7 miles, takes me about 4-6 minutes. I do that in all EV. I can't see the need for heat for such a short trip. Ask me again after the next four days!

we got hit pretty hard, especially along the coast. not bad here, 12-15" of light and fluffy. it's the cold i can't stand. if we had temps like you, i would have to knock my house down and build a superinsulated one. i think i've used half a tank of oil in the last week just trying to keep it in the mid 60's.

Easy - just drive at no more than 40MPH, preferably on level ground. ;-)

I think I'd have a little Folgers stored somewhere. If I didn't have a filter, I'd use a paper towel before going out in those temps
