I'm up here is the Seattle area and I just took delivery of a beautiful seaside blue with the bisque leather. This really is a beautiful car! I got it From Michaels Toyota in Bellevue. Call Dana at Michaels, she said she has a couple of cars available. Be sure to mention my name (William Julien), I get a referal. As a "thank you", I got her a small box of treats from Boems in Issaquah. The car is too new to say too mush about it. I'm still learning how to drive to get the maximum MPG. Yesterday, driving home, I managed to get no arrows on the screen. I'm learning how to glide. Playing with NAV, I setup "home". It is interesting the routes it wants to take. Picking roads that I don't normally travel. I just ignored the suggested left turn, and the NAV adjusted to my route. Oh, and I pressed the wrong button and switched it into french! I understand french. A fun way to brush up. It was easy to switch back. I traided in my 10 year on Honda coupe, with a standard transmission.I catch myself reaching for the stick! I have never had an automatic before. I'm getting used to driving with just one foot. Also, the honda, "just" barly fit in my garage. The honda is longer, and the large coupe doors hard a hard time clearing the center garage post. My Prius fits quite nicely! It gets cold here at night. I have to bundle up to sit in my garage and learn the features of my new Prius. William
congrats on your new car. check out the Washington State sub forum, planning a combination PriusChat/ meet and greet in Lacey the first weekend of May. come on down and check out some of the mods you can do for your car
We bought the same car... I was considering white or silver, but, purchased the blue with the bisque leather. I've really grown to like the color combination. Also, after 20 or so days, I'm not tired of it. I like the electronics and smooth power train. After waiting for awhile 4-5 months, I almost gave up. And, was considering a Nissan 350Z with the same color combination. I was lucky that this one turned up at the dealership. I saw an ad in the newspaper and made an immediate bee line to the dealer. Enjoy your new car. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is definately an improvement over the 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer I had. The transmission CVT, the economy, and the quiteness can't be beat. Gary in Minnesota
Congrats William. Welcome to the club. Our is only 1.5 mos. old. I like the blue a lot too. Take your time learning, there's a great deal to digest. - Will
Hello and Congrats to both of the new owners! I have had my car for 1yr 22 days and am still as excited every time I get to drive it as I was the first time I drove it off the lot. I can now say from experience, that it just gets better with time. A couple of things you might want to get for your new baby... Costco sells some nice all weather floor mats for $19.99 for the set of 4. I hear tell that it can be a bit damp from time to time in your neck of the woods and they will help keep your interior sparkling. You can also check out Weathertech or Exactmats if you want to go the custom route. More expensive but they look really sweet as well. Also, I have found that Target has proved to be a pretty invaluable resource for well made, inexpensive "goodies". They sell a really nice collapsible cargo tote for around $15 dollars. It will hold 4 full grocery bags neatly and has a cover attached and extra pockets around the sides. For a whopping $5, they sell a really nice combo trash receptacle /full size tissue box holder that hangs behind the passenger or drivers seat from the head rest posts. Pepboys Auto sells some door edge guard material called "Style Guard" that comes in gold, silver and black that will help protect the edges of your doors from dinks and chips and will help protect other cars from your door as well. $12.99 here for a 25' roll which is more than enough to do two 4-door cars. Also on ebay there is usually a dealership that sells bumper guards for $19.99 + $8.00/s/h. They always start their auctions for that amount and if you don't win they will offer you a "second chance auction" for whatever your top bid is so... I would say, don't bid more that $19.99 and wait till the auction closes and you will win either way. The bumper guard that they are offering is a black plastic ridged guard that Toyota makes for the Corolla but it looks and works really well on the Prius and protects better than the vinyl sticker that they offer for a lot more IMHO. Have you found the hidden storage drawer located under and in front of the center console yet? Great spot for keeping cords, extra sunglasses, what have you in a well concealed but easily accessible spot. There is another hidden compartment when you raise your hatch, lift the carpet/mat and look at the far front left side. That triangle (sort of) comes up and voila! Another spot for "stuff". I keep a package of popup window wipes (like baby wipes for window cleaning) in there. And just for fun you might want to either start a paper auto diary to track your mileage, gas consumption and fuel costs. I enjoy pulling mine out to show folks exactly how much I have spent and SAVED over my first driving year (really handy when they start that "You don't really save anything with a Hybrid do you?" nonsense). If you want to go the paperless route, you can sign up at greenhybrids.com and they will give you a place to track your mileage fill up to fill up. BTW, in one year I used a bit over 600 gallons (30,000 miles of driving) of gas but saved almost the same amount over my previous car's usage, cool huh? Well, now that I have jawed your eyes out with suggestions, I only have one more thing to add. Enjoy your car and welcome to the family! Take care, Tisza
Thanks! My car is now 4 days old. I put is the order last november. I told them I was not is a rush, because I really wanted to save up and pay cash. The day I got "the call" I was about $2000 short. The day after the pickup, I got my tax return which put me over the top. Today, I'm now "paid cash in full". I really love this car. This is a big step up from my honda coupe. The large heavy door in my old honda had a habit of coming back and wack you. Also, the trunk space was limited. I had to take days off from work to be home for Fedex because I knew I would not be able to get the box into my old car. William
Thanks for the pointers. I have found the storage box under the console. So far, it just has some soft wipes to clean the touch screen. William
Welcome to PC land and congrats on your new car. I also made the transition from a stick to an automatic. At first I was afraid I wouldn't get enough acceleration "punch" from an auto. but Foxy has dispelled that fear, she's got more than enough "get up and go." Haven't had any problems with torque control on wet roads, either.
