2008 Prius No Heat/Red Triagle Light/Thermostat Icon light Come on

    I have several problems with my 2008 Prius that I will try to list below and I have done much of mechanic work myself but now I am a little stuck with some of the codes that are coming up and with some of the problems my Prius is experiencing:

    Here are the codes that were scanned when I took car to a local parts store:
    Coolant Temperature Sensor Evaporated Emission System (Vacuum Leak)
    p3193
    Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor
    Pump Control Circuit Low
    " High



    I replaced the thermostat and now I get the red light displays on the dash anytime I go over 45 and the thermostat light on the panel displays there is a problem. I think there might be air in the system. Should I have a mechanic bleed air out or is there an easy procedure that I can do on my own to fix this problem?
    I have also purchased a water coolant valve and this will be my next part to replace at 106.00 dollars. I am not sure this will fix my problem with my heat but I do not want to replace the heater motor because those run 630 dollars each.

    Being that it is winter I want to fix the problem so that we can drive the car with some heat and not get the red light to come on intermittently. Any suggestions on how to get to the root of these problems listed above?


    Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

    I believe there was another thread here not long ago with someone having similar problem with not getting heat. The end result I believe was him changing out the bad water pump he had and got all the air out of his system. That did the trick. You might just have get rid of the air in your system

    While you didn't include all the DTC's numeric values (which is important), here is what your list looks like to me (others will have more comments):

    *Coolant Temperature Sensor: This could have to do with low engine coolant levels, due to leaks in many cases. Check the radiator level and make sure there is no air in the system, as was mentioned above. Check the engine coolant pump shaft to see if there is pink residue built up.


    *Evaporated Emission System (Vacuum Leak): Probably just a loose gas cap. Make sure it clicks properly.

    *p3193: Car ran out of gas at some point.

    *Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor: The numerical value of this DTC is needed as there are multiple error modes. Could be a mechanical obstruction (the dreaded floor mats!)

    *Pump Control Circuit Low High: Again, the numeric value is needed. But it goes together with the first in the list, indicating that there is a problem with the valve or pump that directs hot engine coolant through the heater core. This could also be due to low coolant.
