My bride's 2013 v5 is flashing "Maintenance Required" at a little over 4600 miles. Way too early for the recommended 10K oil change (though we will probably do the first change at 5K) What is it trying to tell us?
5K is the standard "maintenance" point for routine inspection and tire rotation. the light will flash for a bit when you turn the car on after 4500, then be steady on at 5K.
You can read how to reset the warning in your owner's manual. On my 2004 Prius you make sure that the Odometer is showing your total miles (not one of the trip miles), shut the Prius down and then hold down the ODO button (don't let go) while turning the Prius back on. The Odo then cycles through a countdown and when it shows your miles driven the reset is done (then let go of the Odo button ). JeffD
The only service at 5k is the tire rotation. Take it to the dealer, they should do it free and the oil changes until 24k or 2 years, whichever comes first. They will also do a multi-point check free.
I just had to do mine today. Found a YouTube video dealing with it. On the v model (2012 in my case) this is how you do it: 1) Make sure that the car is displaying the "A" trip odometer. 2) Turn off car 3) Hold down the mi/km button in the middle of the dash (keep it down) 3) Push the power button twice (about 1/2 second between pushes) (no brake) The odometer will go blank and display all zeros and the digits will sequentially disappear. After the last zero disappears, release the mi/km button. The light is now reset for another 5k miles.
