So I am getting really sick of my 02 Prius...it only has 124k miles on it. So what is happening now is that I'll be driving when all of a sudden the car slips into a neutral mode. The engine revs when I hit the accelerator but produces no power. So I pull over, throw it in Park, turn the car off, and when I restart, it is back to normal. I have seen forums on here about this but have not found the culprit... These are the codes I'm getting...I know this slippage is only one of my problems.. p1437 p3191 p3006 p3011 Question: Does anyone know what this is? And is it a simple fix?
WOW, that stinks. When was the last time the ATX fluid was changed? Does seem like it may be electrical if is acts normal after shutting car off. I searched and saw a thread is what causes this it's the shifter assembly, bad contacts. also saw this thread: Transmission Slipping !!
1. You need to replace the traction battery. 2. You need to clean the throttle body interior and throttle plate. 3. You need to replace the accelerator pedal sensor.
Please update your profile or post the nearest city and state where you live. The reason is we can recommend independent Prius shops that will have the tools and expertise to help diagnose the problem. You don't have to use them but at least you'll have more resources. With one minor exception, I agree with Patrick's suggestions: I would like to see more details about the traction battery health. I prefer seeing the 19 module-pair voltages before calling for a replacement. Also, I would probably want to look at the 12V battery voltages, measured at the terminals, both powered off and with the car in "READY." Bob Wilson
Your battery deffinately needs to be repaired, that will make it go into what you call "transmission slipping".I would personally start with the traction battery and clean your throttle body. Your accelerator pedal code may also be a product of your traction battery..Keep us posted and let us know where you are located please..
UPDATE: Just replaced my Traction battery and have only been driving for a little bit with it and there has been no slipping yet. Ill update in a month or so
