Dashboard lights not on when car is running

    My 2012 Prius v dashboard lights no longer are turning on. They light up at initial start-up, but then all but a few icons on the far left and far right of the screen go out. This happened right after I played with the heat / AC controls. Any suggestions on problem and remedy? Thank you in advance.

    is the dimmer switch all the way down?

    Do you have something on the dashboard that's covering up the small black light sensor? If so, that can cause the interior lights to dim considerably.

    Do you mean the HSD display has disappeared ?
    There is an option to turn off various bits of the HSD display, when you cycle through the various display options by pressing the display button on the steering wheel you will see a "SET" option. Hold the display button down for a couple of seconds and the various options of the HSD display can be selected, one of them turns it all off.

    have you put black tape over all the displays and forgotten to remove it?
