My new wife really needed to replace her rusting, repair-loving 03 Malibu - despite her distaste for spending money. As a smoker, she did not want to use one of my DDs. Since I knew she'd be keeping the vehicle for 10+ years, mainly for use on her short commute and around the county, I wanted her to have something reliable and thrifty. She decided on a new 2013 Honda Fit - her first new car purchase. This will make us a 3 Honda & 1 Toyota family. Unfortunately, this will kick my Ridgeline out of the garage.
My previous vehicle was a 2010 Honda Fit. I traded it in this year when I got my Prius. No regrets as I had wanted a Prius for a long time, and I'm very happy owning a hybrid and enjoying all the benefits a Prius represents. But I would say, you made a good choice. IMO The Fit was an amazingly well designed vehicle. Loved the magic seats, and the storage and hauling configuration adaptability. For a compact hatch back it was amazing what I could haul if I needed to do so. And it also was a fun vehicle to drive. Not really powerful, but very agile and quick feeling. Like driving a go-kart on steroids. I admit I tend to enjoy driving smaller vehicles as opposed to larger anyway. Which might not be typical of most people if you look on most American Roads. But I think you made a good choice. The Fit was a rare reality for me, in so much as it was a vehicle I liked, even as I was trading it in. I simply thought it was a good time to make the move to a Prius. But if anyone was asking me for a recommendation for a small hatchback? I'd really recommend The Fit. IMO Honda doesn't promote it enough. It's a great vehicle.
I have a red 2013 fit base with manual tranny in addition to a Prius liftback. I appreciate the Prius for many reasons but I LOVE the Fit. It is really responsive, agile, and fun to drive. The flexibility of the cargo space is awesome. Your wife made a great choice. Hope she has many miles of fun, reliable driving with it. Love the color, too.
