Hey everyone!!! I have not been on for a while, I would like to say today I traded in my Gen 2 with 216,000+ miles for a 2014 Gen 3!!! I am super excited (like any Prius owner is). Here are a few questions that I have, ok they are a lot of questions... 1. I got the 3 so I have the cheap cloth like my old Prius. I am am in outside sales so I am in the car a lot, is there some sour of treatment I can apply to the fabric that will help it stay clean longer? 2. I have an iPhone 4s, any luck getting the email to work with entune? Also any other hacks with that screen? 3. How do I disable the beeping link in my gen 2 prius? I had the back up and the seat belts disabled. 4. which hitch should I get so I can out bike on the back? 5. Any mods with the solar roof??? 6. I put stuff in and out the back all the time, what is the best for not getting the bumper gaurd/ cover scratched? 7. I drive on the expressway and the bugs and rocks killed my last paint, what is the best to protect the front? I think that is it for now, Thanks for your help !!!
I have the cloth seats and like many others, I bought the clazzio seat covers. Love them. But on cold mornings it is like sitting on an ice cube. Depending on your interior I would get a color that accents the car and not try to match up the color. I have the Bisque interior and bought the beige seat covers. Does not go good with the bisque.
Congrats on your new Prius! The dealer can disable the reverse beep. They might frown on disabling the seat belt beep, but I got them to do mine because as a realtor, I'm in and out with clients all the time within the same community and it gets real annoying. But I am strict about buckling up all other times. Definitely get the rear bumper guard - order from PC Shop and it's a piece of cake to install. For the rock/bug problem, get the paint film applied. I've used the 3M film before and it worked great - well worth the cost to protect your paint!
You know. To Each Their Own. But the last two vehicles I've owned, I've considered Clazzio's because they have had cloth seats and I think Clazzio's look great. Adds a real upscale look. So I'm not knocking Clazzio's. But I've found that I really like cloth seats. Stay pretty cool in the Summer, seem to be warmer in winter, in both cases with both vehicles the cloth seat was pretty durable and ultimately cleanable. I almost wish I could find more reasons to hate my cloth seats. But dang my working class taste. I like em.
I would recommend that you look into a clear-bra for the front and at the same time have them cut a piece for the back bumper. I have had these on my cars now for the past 10 years and though it is an initial expense, they protect the car and keep it looking new. Also, once installed, if you happen to have an accident or someone hits you, the insurance company then pays to have it reapplied. In my experience, 45 years of playing with cars, this is the cleanest way to protect the paint. Gone are the days of the vinyl bras that one would see all over the place. Good luck with the new car.
I had cloth seats in my last car. Loved them. But, the cloth in the prius is more of a micro fiber or some odd cloth and it just seems to get dirty to easy.
I use 3m scotchguard on all surfaces in any car that it will work with (not leather, plastic, vinyl). It does work wonders. I reapply once every 6 months or so- I've had coca cola, coffee, tea, lemonade w/lots of sugar spilled in my cars and it does not stick- it beads right off. Just make sure that after applying it- you do not get in the car for at least 12 hours (let it air out). Also- some people in the past have noted a color change sometimes when applying scotchguard. I have never, ever seen this myself- but if you want to be safe, spray some on the bottom of the back seat or something first as a test. I wish that people would follow my rule of "no eating or drinking" in my cars, but unfortunately, the drinking part is a little tough. (NEVER IN THE SUPRA OR MUSTANG) I also ordered leather (pleather? who cares..) covers off ebay last week. They have come in and fit the Prius almost perfect- I will post pictures when the install is completed. They are compatible w/airbags as well. I think I paid like $40 shipped for a 17 piece (top and bottom covers for the seats, headrest covers, arm rest).
Get a Drawtite, Reese, or Hidden hitch (these are all the same design). Don't get a Curt (weaker and more expensive than the others and requires the use of a stabilizing strap).
thanks for the replays, I got the front clear bra from the local place down the street from the house, they sell the suntek ones, so I tried it... I will give it some feed back. I comes with a 5 year warranty... SunTek Window Films and Window Tint: Professionally Installed Automotive Window Tint, Paint Protection Film, Architectural Window Film, Safety and Security Window Film, Residential Window Tint, Commercial Window Tint, , TruCut Window Tint Software, Paint Protection Software
