yes, it will fit the Prius v (it is a lowercase v for the Prius v, it is NOT an uppercase v).

 

Can't wait to install mine. This DIY was awesome. The instructions in Japanese are illustrated really well too.

 

Went to the dealer service center to get an alignment after replacing my steering wheel... bcs the wheel was slightly tilting left after replacement. The service center's effort now has the wheel slightly tilting right... even after four attempts. Sheesh. Would i have better results from a tire center or jiffy lube?

I can't figure any reason why this would be the steering wheel replacement if it's installed as directed and the wheel is not off from the get go. Not that I think you did anything wrong.

How much re-programming has to be done after detaching the battery like that? Auto Windows? other stuff?

 

Just a simple clock reset. No auto windows, etc. and I didn't lose my single beep while reversing. You lose your saved trips though.

Each wheel manufactured has slightly different "grooves" positioning. There is a little wiggle-adjustment room to the left and right before the grooves stop the wheel from slipping any further on the shaft, but with my luck my replacement wheel had the grooves position just so I could be either left-of-center or right-of-center but not in the same center position as the stock wheel.

I think now that I've gotten the alignment "to the right" just a tad, I might now be able to loosen the nut and wiggle a tad to the left and then tighten again... I had some leftward slack but no rightward slack when I originally got it as centered as I could.

 

Should be able to get the wheel centered by adjusting the tie rod ends. Don't mess with the steering wheel locknut if it's as close to centered as you're going to get.

Well I am going to try to have my wheels straight and be aware of this tomorrow when I do the install. Hopefully I will not have this problem.

Maybe it's just my wheel, but has anyone noticed that the black leather on the JDM wheel leaves black marks on your pants. And to make it worse, it's almost impossible to remove the black marks. I'm about ready to go back to the stock steering wheel.

 

You're not supposed to steer your car with your pants.

Hey guys, so I order the MIT steering wheel from Ebay. I followed the instructions in this post. Everything seemed to work well. The hardest part was pulling off the wheel. To be honest, I had to pull really hard and flew back in my seat. After putting everything back together, the first few times I turned my steering wheel, there were some cracking like noises, but they went away after turning the wheel a few times. Secondly, the traction control light will not turn off. I did some searching and briefly saw something that said there is a sensor in the steering wheel which is part of the traction control system. Could there be a sensor that broke? Any ideas? Thank you so much in advance!!

Wheel and nut removers... bump and tap... with the pull-bar and socket held firmly on the nut with one hand, sharply bump the end of the bar with the palm of your other hand. If the nut doesn't loosen, replace palm with a hammer.... firmly tap, tap, tap. Likewise with the wheel... palm of each hand on opposite back sides of the wheel, bump, bump, bump on alternating sides... back toward your chin. Patience, they will eventually come off.

Oh, and I would suggest first taking-off the nut

out of all the MODS that I've done to my prius, steering wheel was the BEST Mod. I LOVE every second of it while driving. worth every penny and more

 

Yeah it's pretty up there on the list. People don;t even know how to comment on it that own Stock Prius as they would never have known about this unless I had it lol. It makes the car look so much more upgraded package wise.

Thanks to all who wrote instructions. Steering wheel switch was a pretty easy job, getting the old one out was the toughest part but even that went ok.

I actually updated from the stock polyurethane wheel to a stock leather one. I could've got the JDM wheel for pretty much the same price, but prefer a more original look. Maybe if the JDM didn't have piano black wood I'd have taken it. It's not that I dislike the JDM look, in my opinion it just doesn't fit the car right because Toyota has never offered anything like it. I know it's a modern car instead of a classic, but I still prefer my upgrades to be more stock'ish than something that stands out as obviously not being OEM.

Leather steering wheel was my first mod to this car that I just recently bought. Coming up is a HID kit, LED package, Ottonavi head unit and a reverse camera. Perhaps a shark fin antenna as well.
